It's so depressing to read these posts, but as an ex DXC UK employee, I know what those who remain are going through. Heed those who say it's time to get out; there are companies out there who appreciate your skills and value.

This company has no real interest in you or your future; it's being driven by an avaricious management committed to profit through asset stripping. So depressing, but that's the reality.

This article caught my eye:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/05/17/hewlett_packard_enterprise_hiring_temps_to_cover_for_redundancies_sources/

And these 3 paragraphs too:

HPE Enterprise Services sources said senior staff were waking up to the reality of what employing fewer heads in IT Outsourcing and Application Business Services meant for contract delivery.

“Now HPE is recruiting contractors to back-fill work that was done by people who left at the end of April. The Regional Delivery Centres (RDC) don’t have the people or the skills. This is a triumph of dogma over practicality,” our contact claimed.

Another claimed, “The loss of my department means the government department we provide IT Support for now has no one to support it. Quite literally no one.”

Amusing.

"Will managers have been contacted already to put forward names"

If you are exHPE ES then McKinsey will already have got you tagged. They produced a consultation around two years ago that essentially built a roadmap to whatever it was that the company were trying to achieve in terms of final operating model. The consultation came out of an exercise where every L4/L5 had to present their org and outlook for inspection. That model that was produced industrialised the transformation process and details exactly which roles will go and when. Prior to that redundancies were largely down to local leadership being pressured on a quarterly basis to either put up names or put up their own name.

By applying for VR you can try to take a bit of control by perhaps going this quarter of your own volition rather than in another two quarters when you are CRd because McKinsey tagged you for then.

Either way the chances are you are going and your end date is already known. The good news is there are still plenty of decent employers out here who treat IT as a core business enabler and value what you do more than what you individually cost. Just avoid the Outsourcers who are purely about doing as little as possible as cheaply as possible to stay just the Amber side of Red against SLAs and KPIs.

I understand the wording on the VR mail has been carefully changed to imply that the HPE ES payoff terms apply to this quarter only. Up until now that caveating didn't happen. A cynic might say that is because they are still looking at ways to save money so may reduce the offer in the future and are preparing the grounds for a defence of that. Mine's in the bank and in my pension. Good luck.

Its not the first time theyve done this .. they say that because they still want to keep the people there for as long as they need them. And with so many people leaving, they are struggling thats why they keep on lying :) And if youre reading this, you probably read all the previous posts as well saying " sh-- hit the fan, if you still want to pay for your mortgage, look for another job" and if youve done f**k all about it .. then .. you know .. but for of all of those that said .. its "scaremongering" what are you going to say now? :) what are you going to say 2 years from now?

@PWJROzv-chw - targets have been identified since January mate .. I know my manager (that left soon after ) told me. All managers were ask to produce a list of people for the next waves. So they know who`s going and they knew that a long time in advanced. But because of the laws, and if you know that you could attack the redundancy process bla bla .. bottom line .. someone .. somewhere .. knows already :)

Do bears sh*t in the woods? Its pay back time for managers

Whilst your manager isn't consulted at the time, they will have made their views known every year at appraisal time when they get together to decide amongst themselves where people fit in the "pay rise" bell curve.

Yor fate isn't determined by if you are a favorite of one manager, its more about if you have pissed one of them off, so they can neg you when they can.

If you like, the sorting sequence has already been communicated well before any "business update" email is sent out, and it is always been affected more by the negative say so of a manager than what the appraisee has actually done over the year.

UK & Ireland VR in Delivery Orgs. So how does this process really work behind scenes. Will manager have been contacted already to put forward names to achieve the WFR target? Can other managers influence who to keep/let go? Not sure I would trust my manager to make the right decision

I was expecting this mail at the start of the month, so they must be running late with their target identification process.

Only delivery people may apply (for now). There surely can't be too many left in the UK...
