Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Allstate will always need field adjusters

Allstate needs field adjusters, albeit not as many as there were before the layoffs. Shops are starting to push back in many markets with comments like,”we’re not going to do your job for you by taking photos or calling a virtual department.” There will always need to be field presence in shady shops making sure there’s no fraud and to assure we are paying what is fair. Ask anybody in the rental departments at Allstate how many delays there are because shops refuse to work or order parts off QFC estimates and let driveable cars just sit at their shops for a week or more until a field adjuster goes out. Not just any shop qualifies for virtual and many busy shops demand a field adjuster go out. Some customers have to go to the shops to take photos of their own cars to speed up the process since shops are sometime asking to charge per photo or estimate written. For some People working in QFC this is their first time writing estimates. Express offices are transferring phone calls to us field adjusters hoping we can explain the repair process to customers that we didn’t even write estimates for in the first place!

Try this; as opposed to saying you’re “dispensable”, look at it this way. The world is changing. Quickly. The company is changing. Hopefully, it’s keeping up with the world around it. That means we’rw Going to do things differently, and we’re going to need people in different roles. You adapt, or you don’t. If you don’t, you move on. We can do nothing, and become uncompetitive and irrelevant. I don’t want to work for that company. Sounds like you do.

"If policyholders don’t like the changes then they’ll show their dissatisfaction by telling their agents or not renewing and Glen will see it in his reports." and lay you off because claim counts are down and you are not needed. Is it Cherry or Grape flavor? The Koolaid you are drinking.

"The sooner you realize how dispensable we all are the happier you’ll be." WOW I am delighted. Good way to gain someone's loyalty to remind them how dispensable they are. Sorry not getting it.

The sooner you realize how dispensable we all are the happier you’ll be. This is a transitional period within Allstate and you just have to take it day to day. Allstate is a business , not a nonprofit company that is here to keep you employed if you can’t justufy your job or if they can’t either. Many of those laid off were offered jobs in QFC so it wasn’t that bad and some became inside adjusters. Keep on working and it’ll get better. The hard part is past us . Some field adjuster reqs are open again in some markets nationwide. If policyholders don’t like the changes then they’ll show their dissatisfaction by telling their agents or not renewing and Glen will see it in his reports.

What does the future hold for the remaining total loss adjusters? Any idea, managers trolling any input?

I’m sure a small minority of shops play the “I’m not going to do your job card”, and opt for our customer’s car sitting idle for a couple of days (sharp businessmen, them) , but the vast majority will resolve the supplement as quickly as possible and improve cycle time and throughput. Most have signed on, fact.

I want to know who the Express adjusters are that “transferring inquiry calls”, to field adjusters cell phones. Oh that’s, right, they don’t know who you are, have your number, or have the technology to transfer to your cell phone. If you don’t work for the company (you obviously don’t) don’t keep up the charade of indignance.

Field adjusters will be a thing of the past in a few years, much cheaper to have an independent look at anything in the field that requires inspection. DEs will also be a thing of the past, their jobs will be done virtually from someone in India.

Sounds about right ..3-4 field techs per market to handle totals, Home inspects where customers insist refuse QFC, and issues at GHRN shops.

Keep telling yourself that, as you watch more and more of them lose their jobs.
