I applied for a business analyst position at DXC and recently got the offer. My question is do they allow you to work from home? To me, i honestly don't care about morale unless i am forced to go to a depressing office. Also as a parent, i need to work from home and if DXC doesn't allow that then i will reject the offer.

I am telling you, please find something else. There is no respect for employees in this company. I worked there for 3 years, took no vacation, no raises or bonuses, just to be layed off recently with no warning. I was blatantly lied to by my managers whenever I asked questions about the longevity of my position. The CEO, Mike Lawrie, took huge bonuses for the years I was there but we were told raises, even cost of living, were out of the question. You have to be able to find a better opportunity. I hope I can.
It will depend from which location you are working and what job you will be doing. I always worked from home, but almost got an assignment fulltime at the customers site. with a travel time of 2 hours one way - it was quiet a shock
It really doesn't matter what the DXC hiring manager tells you about WFH policy when they make the offer. You are still at the mercy of DXC executive leadership making new directives on WFH vs. office. And if it is a US position with USPS focus then you are at the mercy of the new company when that happens. And if it a US position outside of USPS focus don't expect to be there long. You will be hired with the target on your back.
To borrow the name of an old Pink Floyd song: "Run like Hell"!! Unless your only other options are illegal and/or immoral, you'd be better off somewhere else.
Because there are so few offices left in DXC's real estate portfolio (as they need to reduce them all by 2020 to save costs), then if you're in high-cost countries in Europe, Australia or certain parts of US, then home working should be allowed. Although you might want to check this with your DXC recruiter, as its often down to discretion of your hiring manager. If, however, you are in a low-cost country, the rules are tighter and they watch who is clocking in and out.
If you work for a service and delivery centre, then they will want to see people physically in the office, coming together to create this thing management like to call 'synergy' - which means you will be working in a low morale atmosphere, with everyone venting their problems all day. It's a bit like this forum, but without the close browser button. This will greatly affect your motivation, productivity and worse, could spill out to affect your family.
Also note, that DXC is all about short-term-ism now and the environment very volatile. So your hiring manager today, may themselves be gone by end of next month.
1gxz,
it's just to fill those vacant seats. those people will regret. it's coming down this december. the worst wave was august.
i’m from cyberjaya and just to let you know the situation is as bad as your peoples in states...but there are bunch of new hire in the office and i dont know where are these new comers work for...i’ve been this company since Compaq HP HPES and now dxc...if you just get a job with dxc just grab it...for sure situation will get better...but it will be like changes at all times and that constant
Yes. you work from home on most weekends and evenings. I do know a couple of people who got fired for habitually parenting during normal working hours. You cant effectively participate in conference calls, while you have a child that you are caring for. If you cant figure out day care, then you are in the wrong profession.
Yes, there is flexibility to work from home right now. But look at it just not from WFH perspective, but overall experience- you will not get any raises or bonus. Processes are still being worked on, tools are still not in sync, people are quitting or being WFRd on a daily basis. WFH may save you from day to day depressing news, but you can't escape it for too long. If you are out of employment and need money to feed the kids, take the offer. But if not, keep looking.
Depends on the manager. I've not set foot on the office in months and no one has complained yet. As long as you get the job done nobody should really care.
run, seriously you will have no career
Seriously...you have to be out of your mind or completely desperate to take a job at DXC....unless of course you're going to be part of Sr Management and you'll get paid a ton to screw people over.
DXC doesn't have an official WFH policy, so people here tend to follow the guidelines of the project they are on. Most people don't have a real need to be in the office 5 days a week, and many will split time between the office and home.
BTW unless you are going to USPS, I'd be cautious about accepting an offer with DXC if you're based in the US. DXC's private sector end game is to have essentially no US workers.
Work from home? Or get paid to raise kids? Plenty of people have raised kids having jobs OUTSIDE the home.
I work from home full time. I really do not know if DXC has a WFH policy, or it’s up to the individual manager. Honestly you should have discussed this during the interview...
