Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

I want to scream!

Each day I hate this place a little bit more. I have had 3 people on my team resign today- I am happy for them but sad that I am not able to get anything. This place is getting more depressing. I had some USPS folks who sit in my building beaming at the announcement of leaving DXC. Who knows what lies ahead, but they clearly think it is better than what they are getting here.

I hate this f---ing place

Silence and Gloomy ambiance lies in every corner of our DXC office. Good folks departing every month. And those who left behind their silence deafening like a loud scream on their subdued faces. Those people like me, a not prepared meat to wave goodbye is like waiting each month to be executed in the slaughter house.

It's services, no matter which "consulting" company you sign up with, the routine is the same. Onboard you for one project, grind you up, when it's all done spit you out. However those people who supported corporate will get cut as soon as DXC figure a way to run a skeleton crew and outsource everything to a SaaS vendor. If they could outsource the air you breath and the water you drink on site, they would.

There's many of us on the outside, now enjoying life.

Walk towards the light, you know it makes sense.

Ignore those who say: "Don't go into the light"

Even if you have to take a pay cut, just leave. Life is so much more easier with other companies. DXC is just too toxic. I lives to tell the tale. My friend wasn't too lucky in DXC.

Lawrie is huge on the cloud, so obtaining an AWS or Azure certification will give you more job security and make you more marketable to other companies. Make it hard for DXC to WFR you -- if you get a cloud certification and they still lay you off, you'll know it's because they only care about cheap labor, not up-to-date skills.

Put together a career plan, ensure you include training for the role you want to perform, and gaining experience using the skills you learn. Focus on areas which are growing such as Cyber security, cloud (including AWS certifications in how to plan and migrate for a move to public cloud), or analytics. Once you have done this you will be more valuable as an employee to DXC which increases your bargaining power as you will find it easier to find a job in the outside market. Try to get your manager to provide time and courses for the training.

No-one will do this for you. You own your career and the changes in our industry due to offshoring and automation are no different to the changes in the manufacturing industry 30 years ago.

You need to adapt your skills as the industry changes.

You are not alone. I think a lot of people are looking for a way out. Be patient, bad times will not last forever. There will be something better popping up for you (and maybe for me too) :-)

Unless you're USPS, follow your teammates lead and find another job outside DXC. There is no future with the company.
