Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Mike Lawrie 10/09 town hall highlights

This was posted in the Pontiac town hall thread

Highlights from today’s Lawrie’s town hall:

16,000 WFRs so far this year, with another 8,000 to go.

No raises or bonuses ever. Salaries are set on external market factors.

Benefits will continue to decrease, and costs for employees will increase.

Employees are expected to invest personal time and money on learning new skills and technologies.

Poor morale was acknowledged; however Mike challenged employees to “take personal ownership” of morale, whatever that means.

DXC will not invest in R rather they will partner with firms that do R&D.

Regarding Public Sector, “all options are on the table.”

Loyalty from employees is greatly desired, along with touting the DXC brand to clients and potential customers.

Just imagine being told that you will receive a bonus but in the next breathe they say that you will need to pay for it upfront (just like participating in the healthy lifestyles program and having to pay for a Bluetooth pedometer.

Invest personal time and money on learning new skills = no more reimbursements on successfully completing an exam? Do it for your own good to polish up your CV.

This town hall was not recorded by DXC, and likely for good reasons as Lawrie's message was anything but inspiring for employees.

One piece of crap is NGDM which takes up most of the time of managers reading and presenting in a conference room bulls*it reports of how many incident tickets were received for the previous week for each client while sipping a cup of tea and a free burger.

There is no incentive to do more than what's minimally required at DXC. There's a constant threat of being WFR'd, benefits and vacations are cut, and you're treated like cattle.

I strongly suggest if you train yourself on new skills that you do so using industry-recognized training and certifications. DXC is going to push its own proprietary training eventually, which will not transfer to other companies.

"Or doing as little as possible for the most money while it lasts, that’s guaranteed to lift a chaps morale."

The company is doing as little as possible for you, you do as little as you can get away with for them.

Wow. I think it's time for DXC to move their HQ to Jonestown, Guyana. If folks are drinking the Kool-Aid that DXC is an employer of choice then I'm buying stock in Kraft.

Why are these town halls done without inviting all employees? Where are the replays available?

The only bonus mentioned that applies to non-upper management types is a potential profit sharing plan based on the company as a whole meeting arbitrarily set goals. The only raise mentioned you could get is a retention offer if you put in a notice and they decide they want you to stay. Salaries will be dictated by external market conditions, and salary decreases per market trends was not ruled out.

A lot of what is posted here is not true. There are bonuses and raises but he didn't go into specifics. There was a lot of talk about retooling employees and yes there will still be layoffs happening.

Did he actually say that about bonuses and raises?

With management holding the Sword of Damocles over everyone's head, promises of another 8000 to go amid decreasing benefits and no bonuses ever; the key challenge is to learn how to smile more and offer your loyalty? (What!?)

This guy is clueless. He is digging his own grave with this company how sad. This is leadership and all those lilttle dumpling managers are doomed.
