Surely at this point in time, Scott deserves a little comment on his role in Sun's history, no?

@eng - your randomly assigned handle is proper indeed - a brilliant addition

This post is in poor taste.

It takes a team to design a CPU, a system, and an OS. We were all part of the team and all valuable in one way or another.

Just because some ex-Sun employees happened to be "famous" doesn't minimize the contributions of the other members of team Sun.

Let's be specific. Dr. Radia Perlman invented the Spanning Tree Protocol. Look it up if you don't know what that is. BTW, she hates the Mother of the Internet moniker. I don't blame her. Connotes that she baked cookies or some sh-- like that. Like Dr. Brown's flux capacitor that makes time travel possible, STP makes the Internet possible.

I'll start one for Oracle

-------- E ----------

  • Larry Ellison, once visionary co-founder and CEO of Oracle who lost vision and relinquished control of this once great company to a pair of imbeciles.

------- H -----------

  • Mark Hurd, co-CEO of Oracle. A philanderer and destroyer of once great companies while enriching himself.

...wip..

That list is missing at least one famous person, although I won't mention their name here since I know they dropped Sun from their bio long ago, so I'm guessing it's their wish to not be associated with Sun. I don't think there's a single source online, linkedin included, that shows that this person was once at Sun. It's always made me wonder, though, what drove this very successful person to scrub Sun so thoroughly from history...

When Monty sold the family silver of MySQL to Sun for $1b and became an employee as part of the acquisition. He is a sellout although he pretends it doesn't happen.
