Good point, but the money will need to come from somewhere. You have divisions being asked to cut 10 of millions right now and their only option is to reduce head count. So, make no mistake, big bonuses without top line growth means big cuts elsewhere which translates to many layoffs.
As some analyst that follows AIG said, it is better to have large pay packages for executives coming in than of executives leaving, as long as they deliver on their vision. The delivery part still to be seen albeit, but those pay packages shall have no decision impact when it comes to restructuring or layoffs.
