Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

New boeing unit is the end of deer valley

Deer valley avionics are officially second tier. Boeing won't be calling. More layoffs sure to come as primes go to a vertical strategy. Move now into those companies.

Boeing getting into avionics also hurts Rockwell-Collins. However Rockwell purchased Goodrich last year so thinking this isn't a big deal for them.

Remember Harmon and Hartus are entering avionics as well. Could be fun to watch everyone scramble. Boeing will be the winner but at what cost?

It's pretty simple. Even you are VP, you do what Morris Plains wants or else. Retired VP told me that you could almost see the bobble heads nodding during the top level conference calls. "You can't tell them that" culture at its worst. Do whatever is necessary to meet the numbers is an absolute recipe for disaster. Seen it elsewhere on a smaller scale, but this is just breathtaking. Best think that could happen this fall is for leadership to create a new structure that can't be compared to the old so they can stop the madness without affecting the stock price too much.

So glad that the employees suffered layoffs, furloughs, negligible raises (if any) etc. to boost profits and give CEO and other top executives higher payouts. Higher profits driven by cost reductions can hurt delivery / quality / service. Comes back to bite now. Even if Boeing thinks it will take a few years they will do it now.

Key point to me in one article.

"But for future airplanes, Boeing is now hungrily eyeing the profits made by its systems suppliers, who collect money long after an airplane leaves Boeing’s factory by maintaining and updating the avionics throughout the jet’s service life."

So who knows if Honeywell is looking to sell pieces off or just license the technology now?

Unfortunately it will be a bumpy ride until they announce what they will do in response to 3rd Point. As they say, keep your resumes up to date.

Pretty sure loose use of term bean counters refers to corporate office, not the many good workers in finance at local levels who too get jerked around. Seems these days corporate treats aircraft engines and DECUs the same as a pile of beans, parts is parts mentality. Boeing used to have an avionics division a few years back, but went to supplier is the expert model more recently. They got burned on dream liner. Also looking for long term revenue stream on r and o. And I don't think the poor customer service and responsiveness from Hon dissuaded their decision either.

Part of it is the bean counters, most of it is moronic and underqualified senior ALT decision making. You can't be dead last on the Boeing supplier surveys for YEARS and not expect some kind of decision like this. HON forced Boeing's hand through high cost avionics with poor OTTR rates and even worse product support. I truly want to see Boeing displace HON out of the avionics market for good in both ATR and BGA segments. Once that is done, AERO can be sold off for 25% of what it's worth today.

Stop blaming the bean counters. So many of them at Aero have gotten fed up and quit that there aren't enough people to do the work. The blame lies at the top.

Boeing won't buy it. They're developing their own because they're tired of being under HON's thumb. There are enough former HON engineer were that HON has RIFd, force retired or driven out of the company to really help Boeing get this done and I have no doubt that they will develop a solid product. I truly hope that they take significant market share away from HON. This needs to happen because this is what you get when you let greed and selfish, arrogant a--holes run the company along with the bean counters. The chickens are coming home to roost and finally, all these years of terrible decisions are biting HON Right in the arse. I truly hope that Boeing decides to enter the APU market and push HON out of That makes too.

S--- it up, Dairyass
