Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Evaluations are blaming the wrong people

The major concern regarded the evaluations and how the innocent person gets blamed for something they did not do. In simple terms here is how it works. Suzy nurse does not call her members in time, she has calls that are overdue, surveys that have never been done in two years, etc. Nurse Jan has all her surveys up to date, no over due calls, etc. On August 1st roster changes take place, Nurse Jan receives Nurse Suzy's members, the calls are overdue, members do not have surveys, meds are not updated, etc. The week after the roster changes, Nurse Jan receives her Performance Summary, it shows she is now in the pink, has many MOC calls which are overdue, mDATS over due, etc. Nurse Jan is now below standard, failing at the job because the calls were not done in time. Even though Nurse Jan did not have the members when the calls were due, the MOC for the member was overdue when Nurse Jan received them on her roster so she takes the hit for the Overdue MOC. The issue isn't the roster changes, the issue is Nurse Jan is blamed for the calls that Nurse Suzy didn't make when she had the roster. This not only affects the HCMs, it affects the coaches and COMS because many of their numbers come from the work of the HCMS. For the company and the members who receive Nurse Jan as their HCM, this is a good changes. The members will have a nurse who will properly take care of their needs, save the company money, etc. Nurse Jan will straighten it out, she will do what it takes while the company's rating system shows her as failing in meeting their needs when it was really Nurse Suzy.

The performance summaries are failing the wrong nurse. The MPS numbers show Nurse Jan isn't making standards, she is failing the day she took over the members. Blaming Nurse Jan for Nurse Suzy's lack of work does not affect numbers or stockholders, the change is good for the business and stockholders. Nurse Suzy should get the blame for the lack of care, not Nurse Jan. Now if the purpose of lowering Nurse Jan's ratings is to affect her raise, then it would affect profitability and stockholder incomes by decreasing operating costs related to employee pay. If the company is unable to give raises this year, they need to tell the employees, don't falsely accuse them of something they didn't do in order to lower their pay. Nurses have worked for little or no pay in almost every job the have performed, that is what they do. They value life but they also know about business aspects because they see how much the medications cost. They realize the need for sacrifice, they do it all the time. The worse insult a nurse could ever receive is to accuse the nurse of not be accountable and a failure to their patients. The Humana we knew would inspire people to be better thru greatness and positive attitudes, they would have never given an employee showing failure when the person was not the one to blame.

I'm sorry to say that Humana is gone and is not coming back. The only way to make this situation better now is to find a new job. I think This program is ending soon and will be closed by Jan 1. Just my guess
