Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

People are leaving on their own

Certanly not 'work as usual' for a while now. People down the chain are finding it hard to meet customers' demand as 3rd parties decommit due to payment issues. We are on the high-risk band. Many atimes we are caught off guard and our planning fails. Our hands are tied. Sales continue to decline with most days we are left keeping ourselves busy doing nothing. People are just waiting for next opportunity to jump ship. Many have and will continue to do so. May those who are patiently waiting for severance package or a turnaround, get what they deserve. It is hard seeing hard-working, long-service staffs let go one by one.

I agree, @OtLneIB-2xbi. We've lost two good workers in the last three months to other companies. People are leaving in droves, unfortunately, the wrong ones.

Good one. If that time comes we'll just find new jobs. No big deal, and no slaughter. Good luck to you and your new employer, unless of course you've jumped off that ship already too.

Haha, Story of your life huh? I bet you pushed some women and children overboard too while you were scrambling for that lifeboat. I wouldn't evangelize that story to many other people. But, thank you for leaving Avaya, one less useless coward.

Shut up losers. We're emerging soon and that's all but guaranteed. Stay tuned for the good news. I'm as close to the information as you can really get. I'm literally sitting here laughing while you all spew BS while I sit here knowing the truth.

Can't get mad because Avaya finally had the gall to cut the freeloaders. FINALLY. When I first joined this company a few years back I was amazed at how smart some people were, and how incompetent and worthless others were. The worthless are gone and all that remain are smart. You can't blame the people who left, obviously Ch11 makes people uncomfortable, but good for them for finding what they felt was a better opportunity for themselves. And I know a lot of good ones who left who went to REALLY crappy places. Boy are they going to regret that when the news breaks.

Brightsizing.

I think Dilbert identified the situation decades ago:

I also choose to remain in avaya as I am well paid.. All the rubbish employees have been and continue to be laid off...

Wow, so instead of bashing Avaya's products, you try to use fear-instilled messages to get the good employees to jump ship. Very slimy. Remind me not to work for you, ever. The current Avaya employees in the US are the best engineers (you cut from the bottom up) and the account managers with the best customer relationships that are still making money. We'll be fine in any interview.

Prospective future employers may question the judgement of someone who hangs on at Avaya through this period. If there is the possibility of a large severance package at the end, then you may be able to explain why you stuck around. But if you are in a jurisdiction where severance is not being paid and probably never will be paid (USA?) you have to wonder whether someone stayed there just because they could not find employment elsewhere.

As someone who is doing the interviewing to fill positions at our company, sticking around too long when a company is clearly going under is something that would be questioned - but depending on the answer it could have no impact on the hiring decision.

Yes agree. Real joke is their asking us to refer friends to job openings with the offer of a bonus referral fee. I wouldn't count myself a friend if I referred someone to this sinking ship...
