Bank of America just posted higher than expected earnings for last quarter. Hopefully, this will reflect positively on the future, and they will not add more to already enough laid off people in operations and technology division. We can hope, at least...

By the way, the machine code suggestion was just a joke! you probably don't know what that is, which is why you didn't get it. And if your phone doesn't have 256 cores to do all the processing needed, just send it to the CLOUD ... These days nobody has to know how anything works or build anything new as there is an App for it or it can just be done in the Cloud.

It's got nothing to do with the age of the technology! It's the experience and expertise of the people involved that make all the difference. The latest version of Python will not run the bank any better than the mainframes.

Re IT and technology: IT and technology largely define the company -- fewer and fewer branches with people, and systems running on ATMs, smart phones, etc. taking their place. That said, the critical IT side may not be managed too well, if top management comes mainly from the people-centered era. I suspect that a place like BAC wouldn't do too well in competition for the best IT minds vs. the likes of Silicon Valley. Some I have encountered are wedded to status quo, 20+ yr old technology.
Corporate greed, high earnings never made a difference in the past 4 years and it won't this time.
There is just so much waste in IT and technology, so there's plenty to go especially in areas that deal with the financial markets.
Layoffs are so far the only good "idea" for increasing revenue! Do more with less!
