UK Field Services getting TUPE'd to another company?

Any truth in this? similar to how Networks went to AT&T

Reading through the replies it sounds as if the End User FS management are being moved to FDS. They had remained in ES while CDS/FDS provided the 'bodies' to do the work (desktop support etc). For anyone not familiar with FDS/CDS they provided two things; break/fix for mainly HPE product and EUFS and ITO services for ES (hence they were split into CDS and FDS in Dec/April).

As to the wider question I've seen the U.K. delivery org push SCC as a preferred supplier and not mention FDS. So I see a good chance that FDS are being 'packaged' for an SCC takeover.

sounds like DXC might be preparing to spin it off as it's own standalone org or sold off to someone like SCC maybe

All of the ex-EDS field service staff were TUPEd into HP CDS in 2011; which was split into HPCDS and ES FDS when HPE/HPE ES split at the back end of last year.

I can only assume these roles must be the CSC field service staff moving into ES FDS as I'm not sure there are any field service staff work from the HPE side who aren't already in ES FDS

ES FDS are a separate legal entity wholly owned by DXC. I've no idea why, always assumed it's because the roles can't be off-shored and they don't want them counted against the ultimate goal of 99% off-shore 1% onshore

FDS (ES Field Delivery Ltd) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DXC Technology (www.dxc.technology) and although an integral part of European delivery operations, is a separate legal entity providing multi vendor service capabilities to DXC Technology's customers.

Born after the Spin-Merger of Hewlett Packard Enterprises and CSC, FDS has a long tradition of delivering highly customised IT services from its previous incarnations as part of HP CDS and Synstar.

Our portfolio is mainly on-site/in-country services, ranging from Break/Fix to complex infrastructure services, applications support (development, testing, maintenance), Mobility and Workplace Services.

This broad range of skills coupled with an agile and competent workforce creates flexibility in service solutions which can be tailored to individual customers needs. We pride ourselves on our commitment to customer satisfaction.

FDS is now present in 10 European countries with more than 4,000 employees of which approximately 1000 are based in UK & Ireland across 150+ sites.

FDS is set as an autonomous company with its own support functions which include IT, Finance and Human Resources.

At FDS we are always interested in speaking with IT Engineers of all experience and skills who are currently looking for work throughout the UK & Ireland.

From the email.

At least they are not being made redundant, Yet.

Following the merger of HPE ES and CSC, DXC have made a strategic decision to consolidate the Client Site Services operations to drive and achieve optimal service delivery. As a consequence, it is DXC’s intention to transfer the UK End User Field Services roles (Legacy ES and CSC) to FDS.

The consolidation of these Field Services teams presents an opportunity for geographical and technological optimisation, improving the labour mix and delivery efficiencies. You are receiving this email as this affects you.

Oh, and it happens 1st October.

There was a lot of work done by HPE ES on lining up 2nd Line Support people that were based on customer sites up with a move to Manpower about 18 months or so ago. I understood it had already happened in some cases and certainly augmentation was coming through Manpower.

It was being done as part of the policy of getting everyone into Cobalt and Erskine that they possibly could. By outsourcing they can make it look like onsite presence has vanished and they get benefits in terms of recruiting, retaining people etc becoming someone else's worry. First line already work for Manpower.

I suspect the rumour is true.

There has been a rumour of flipping technical staff to Manpower and then contracting them back to work on CSC/DXC for some time.

I heard someone senior blurt this in answer to a question that I hadn't asked, then quickly retract it. But that's not the first time I'd heard it.

Of course the fun thing under this deal is that you become self employed with Manpower as your boss, effectively just removing employment rights.

Nice eh?

I did wonder if recent HMRC cases about Uber etc would have put them off of this idea, but who knows.
