Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

September layoffs

I would expect the axe to fall end of September for general rif. You saw the slide saying our op ex is 17% and they want it down to 13 to 15%. Any organizational shifts like CSsG/Dot Hill or facilities closing will be later if needed.

I believe this is about right, @ONa4Ujd-lmi. They'll want to get to their target number ASAP. Other stuff can wait, but this will be a priority for Seagate. I would put my money on September.

So, LCO location will grow while everywhere else is downsizing/closing down?

The product development capability was stripped from TCO, in the two previous RIFs. Rumor that the remaining product development employees are being offered relocation to LCO. After the relocation completes, will probably be another RIF at TCO. If true rumor is true, I'd guess another TCO RIF before the end of the fiscal year. Can anyone confirm the rumor?

Are you serious....Theres still 4 months left in 2017. That gives the Exec Mgmt at least 4 more chances to stick it to the employees. Next round is September...What is "1qgk" smoking?....

I think it's unlikely that we will have any other job cuts in 2017
