Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Layoff fear??

From the numerous posts and rumours, Layoffs appears to be a reality. Need some advise from the forum on how this not-so-fancy list is prepared? Based on ones profile can someone predict likelihood to be in the list?

Let's say someone has won highest possible leadership award in Dell (e.g. Platinum), history of a HR case say for intimidating team members, poor tell dell scores over years and being unlucky got very low ENPS. What is the mathematical probability of this person to be in the list?

Platinum awards for leadership excellence for directors who don't know basics of leadership. Who abuse people and can't even speak properly end up with hr cases. playing video games on mobile phone all the time in office. With no basic technical and managerial skills they have been able to fool the system. This is BDC storage management for you. Even irony becomes insignificant.

Layoff is a finance decision. If you are on the top salary bracket you should be afraid. Management roles especially can be easily replaced. Many people in top management create the aura that they are unique and not replaceable which is big load of horseshit.They create coteires and loyal groups like in cults. But when shake up happens even closest loyalists jump the sinking ship to embrace security.

My team lead at Dell Nashua is good at s u c k i n g and selling all the information about team to managers and directors. The kind of guy who can feed on dead. He get pay hikes, bonus, good reviews and he never has to worry about job loss. Simple as that.

You don't get bronze, silver, gold awards for doing exceptional work. You get only when your

manager puts your name in portal. NDC managers put who they like and not based on work

That is very well said. So after 15 years at EMC this is the reason I moved to work for a much smaller company where everybody knows the rest of the engineers well. As a result there is more money (I get 18% higher salary than the last one I got at EMC) and there is fair treatment. Not for a second I would consider job even for a higher salary at Dell, EMC, HP, IBM and the likes which are inefficient, money-wasting mastodonts with disfunctional management.

start telling everyone how much work you do how good you are etc. start selling and gain visibility. Tell Dell eNPS does not mean anything if the big bosses think well of you. Nobody wants a pushover loser manager, and the senior management knows that. Being the devil's advocate gets you far. Impress the management not the workers.

My manager had multiple complaints made against him from race discrimination to gender bias to harassment to intimidation to retaliation. The entire group got laid off and he got a job created just for him and receuved a promotion out of it. When that job came to an end in another round of layoffs, he got another job handed to him and never went without a job for one second nor did he ever have to worry about not getting one. In addition, he is a lousey, inept, incompetent manager and even worse human being. But, he is good at s u c k i n g above him and sr management pimps him out to do their dirt work bcz they dont have the lluevos and he knows being their dirtbag buys him job stabiility and upward mobility at least in midatl division where that good ole boys club is alive and well. To answer your question, nothing matters except kissing the right .

Managers are untouchables and they can run their own show. So HR cases and Tell Dell results against them doesn't matter.
