Vacation & Furlough at AERO? SPS lesson

If Aero is planning a furlough like SPS (prior post) it's best to take as much "unlimited vacation" as you can now while you have a chance. They would most likely cancel any vacation time to make up the lost work during furloughs.

Anyone know if Aero is expecting census actions, furlough or layoff? Furlough is cheaper for them.

Isn't one site already doing a layoff volunteer this week? Why wouldn't other sites do it too?

What a company to work for. Sacrifice seems to be only at the lower levels.

Yes, Defense and Space are Aero sectors with upcoming layoffs.

Defense and Space are already collecting volunteers. You need to network beyond your four walls to be aware of some of the actions. Corp has also been RIFing in small numbers over past 2 weeks. Probably more coming before end of September. Two of our IT people were let go end of July

Yes, the OP is discussing things that haven't even happened. What's the point?

Layoffs haven't been announced in Aero, so nothing to see here.

If you still get accrued vacation then the original post clearly doesn't apply. Instated "unlimited vacation" which is yet another way to screw a bunch of employees out of part of a benefit. Original poster is right. When exempts are furloughed they are still expected to get all the work done the weeks before and after, minus the pay. That is exactly how it every furlough has been. What's new is vacation is at manager discretion so if the work is not done the manager will make the employee work

-2khp, yes I am a Honeywell US employee and I should clarify as -3xfa stated that for non-exempt (hourly) employees vacation time is still an earned benefit.

Vacation is still earned for the non-exempt employees.

2vwx. Are you actually a US Honeyell employee? Vacation is no longer an accrued benefit for us. The original post is completely valid.

What a lame post. Vacation time is an earned benefit and furlough's have not had any bearing on it in past years
