Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

More layoffs then it was reported

Something we have been saying for a while... It seems that number of reported layoffs in oil and gas industry was significantly higher than reported by companies (ConocoPhillips included.) And not by a small number, by nearly 50 percent... Really good read for those interested...

The ELT is well-advised by Legal and know how to exactly adjust things and avoid notices according to the WARN act.

No worries, while employees are kept in the dark, our leaders will continue to work overtime such that they are well compensated and taken care of. They have contracts!!

Meanwhile... you minions... are just pawns to their goodies and excessive compensation.

Yes - the whole industry is in pain and cutting back. Compared the service companies, COP layoffs have been very small. And compared to most other companies, people leaving COP have been treated really well. The package I got was very generous, especially considering I live in a state that says they didn't have to give me anything. Was sad to go, but compared to my friends who just got a couple of weeks pay, I am glad I was at COP.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds accurate. Think of Cop Alaska layoffs in Sept/Oct 2016. The only thing reported to the local media was that there would be "a relatively small number of layoffs." Uh, ok, as in how many? It certainly wasn't 2 people.
