30 day notification rule for RIF

Is there such a thing ? My group (RMSS at Glendale , Az) was not actually notified we are a target until today .

RIF rules vary by state. Usually Honeywell keeps the numbers just below the amount the have to report to the state. And they changed the Severance plan as posted in HR Diirect site to have your severance run concurrently with any state required warning cheating you out of more time

If you are concerned you won't be the last person Riffed and worried you cannot find a job before running out of funds you should cut back on your spending and build up cash reserves. Prepare for the storm that is likely coming

I heard there was a volunteer period open until aug 11 or 12. So, I'm thinking the RIF is valid.

It's not clear if the rmss group had a layoff or they received the announcement. The other thing that needs to be factor is PIP ... those are independent of RIF. I've seen it happen a few day before the official RIF happen.

Under the WARN Act, 30 day notice is required if 500 or more employees are impacted within a 30 day period.
