In order to provide end to end infrastructure services HPE is discussing potential opportunity to buy Avaya. Since HPE already had networking, Avaya sold its networking bu to Extreme. HPE was loosing lot of deals as against Cisco since the time Cisco started selling compute servers. Already 60% of Avaya support services are being outsourced and managed by HPE. Very clever move by both HPE and Avaya.

Avaya is even more worthless now than 2 years ago, so now HPE should bite since they don't have to bite off as much. I'm sure they will not assume any outstanding debt from Avaya. With all the executive mice jumping ship, they know they will be cut when the new company takes over.
Who will benefit the most out of all this, the CEO! Getting millions for running a company in the ground. I'm sure the employees got furloughed, years with no raises or bonuses, but upper management always get the cash and stiff the ones that's doing all the work.
Regardless of the fake news or rumors, Avaya is in a black hole and will disappear forever just like Nortel.
This would mean that HPE would want to get into the UC/CC business and feels it has a disadvantage in deals because it doesnt have it in its portfolio. That really isnt the case, virtually no company puts out a "full stack" RFP or buys all its services together, any customer of any size doesnt even have the same people working on voice and data so there is no disadvantage. As it is pointed out HPE has a lot of support outsourced to it, these conversations would have happened 2 years ago and HPE didnt bite then, no need to now.
Desperate people saying stupid things in hopes that it will come true. Avaya is doomed, regardless of what happens.

Logically HP should buy Avaya. The partnership will surely give tough competition to Cisco.
