Apparently one north american sales VP (read did no sales last year !!) was made a director - and he pissed off and took a package - rumors are this was multi million dollar package.

Happens all the time in the UK, they can't win business even if their lives depended on it.
Company blames skills shortage but the people on the ground know full well there is no interest in winning new business from top brass, they want to retain clients and stop at that. They don't have enough staff, money or ambition for a big logo win.
