Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I knew that going into it....55 y/o....and they certainly have all their i's and t's in a row as well. Honestly I feel as though they did me a favor. I needed the push for sure.

I was laid off 4 years ago and still cannot land a full time job. I've been contracting for the past several years. It's not easy out there especially if you are over 50.

There's no integrity here! That's for sure! Just build your network and look around, make contacts, and move on as soon as possible otherwise you may be moved! Don't worry about doing your best, just do the job, what you think is your best, probably isn't what your manager may have in mind and so just do the job, that's it.

I know that has got to be tough, especially when being loyal to the company that lays you off. I've got to agree though, there is no loyalty these days either way - whether it be on the employee or employer side.

Agree with the poster below: you should always strive to do your best - build your reputation, expand your network and act with integrity. It will always pay off in the long run (whether at the bank or elsewhere).

People on here who preach to do the "bare minimum" crack me up as they are claiming to be the victim on one hand, while victimizing others (who no doubt have to pick up their slack) with the other. Integrity really is key in both personal and professional life.

Wrong. Keep giving your best during the time you are there. Even if it doesn't pay off there it will elsewhere-if anything you'll keep your integrity intact. They only win if you lose yourself in the process and you allow them to steal your goodness and what you claim to be about. Stay true to you and eventually it will all work out exactly how it was supposed to. You may be out of a frustrating career but stay strong and you'll have enough strength to open a bigger better more solid door.

Lesson learned...Always just do the bare minimum. It sounds like you were an individual contributor B4, that’s a prime target for layoff at the bank.

But you are correct. It means nothing. So don't be loyal.
