Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

No loyalty to employees or America?

Interesting question for loyalty too. Newsmax.Com article

Four major U.S. companies that have recently announced plans to cut back on the number of jobs in their American divisions also have made clear they are ready for new business in Iran.

Honeywell, Volvo, Volkswagen, and Schlumberger (the world’s largest oilfield services provider) are eyeing Iran for new business ventures, according to United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), a bipartisan group opposed to the nuclear agreement with Iran.

Newsmax asked White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday what the White House reaction was to the news provided by UANI.

“I think that speaks for itself,” Spicer replied, “The president was very clear on what he thinks of the Iran deal, and companies need to abide by the law.”

Volvo Trucks is poised to produce three new models of Volvo trucks in Iran working in conjuction with SAIPA Diesel, Iran’s second largest automaker.

Last year, Volvo made multiple rounds of job cuts totaling around 1,200 layoffs in 2016 — including at its Mack Trucks factory in Lehigh Valley, Pa and its plant in Dublin, Va.

Honeywell Senior Vice President Michael Millard said before the Iran deal was reached that, if there was an opening to Iran for his company, “there would be a lot of potential. We started contingency plans to look at what the opportunities will be and how we would mobilize our sales and market forces.”

Honeywell Aerospace, the Arizona-based subsidiary of Honeywell International, announced in October its third round of layoffs since 2016.

The oilfield services colossus Schlumberger announced in November that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic Republic to develop three oilfields, according to The Wall Street Journal. Schlumberger has reportedly cut 30,000 jobs globally since 2015, including an undisclosed number of jobs in Houston

What's your point, OP? Only Schlumberger is going to do any significant local hiring in Iran since their business is built literally on "boots on the ground." Or shouldn't these companies do business with Iran? Otherwise, new sales can bring more US employment.

Honeyhells loyalty is as follows, in order of magnitude:

Wall street/shareholders

Dave's pockets/bank accounts

Board of directors bank accounts

Notice how I didn't mention customers or employees? That wasn't an ommision. If you are an employee of HON, it's a matter of "when" not "if" you're shown the door in a layoff. No amount of dedication, free overtime worked, programs launched or results will protect you. At HON, you are just a number. A number that is a cost on the HON balance sheet and when they'd rather have the money they pay you than your services, you're out and that's that. They don't even care how or who will take over your responsibilities. The accountants making the RIF decisions are not accountable for any deliverables outside their cost center.

The moral of the story is to not hang your hat at HON. Gain some experience, then leave on your own accord and on your terms. HON is no longer a long term employer, merely a starter job or stop gap solution. I used to be proud to tell people where I worked. Now I'm ashamed and I only reluctantly admit where I am employed.

Stop posting spam dude.

Volvo, Volkswagen, and Schlumberger aren't even American companies so why the f would they be loyal to you? They can do business with whoever they want.

Instead of complaining about real problems you are complaining about legit business. You think the world owns you something? Or you are special?

Complain about incompetent management that lost business, caused layoffs and managed the place to the ground. Instead you are complaining about seeking new business that doesn't effect you in any way and has nothing to do with you. Are you jealous?
