Seems Intel bet on the wrong horse. Who is positioned better for the next decade? The one one make PC components or cellphones ?
One is getting bigger and stronger the other more desperate and weaker.
I remember when Intel was so proud it was the most important technology force, that is no longer the case.

Yeah I remember PSO saying x86 would win in mobile because of 'better tools and ecosystem'.
What a load of garbage. I bet Renee James fed him that sh!t. They were too clueless to see that actually ARM had far superior tooling and infrastructure for mobile and that mobile was NOT like the PC market at all.
It most certainly WAS obvious in 2012 with iOS and Android devices exploding in volumes.
Only morons like PSO and RJ couldn't see it, or, if they did see it - failed miserably to address it (Atom fail, Meego fail , Appup fail etc).
there was this unbelievable belief that x86 was inherently superior to other architectures. i clearly remember RJ even had a quote posted all over on circuit, you try, they don't believe you, then you win. i was like where is the link? where is the logical sequence?
the free ride from Moore's Law had confused the brightest minds in intel of the true sources of their business success.
another example the tablet was clearly rising in the sales figures (which are btw delayed by one or several quarters) and instead of launching a competitive product asap there was so much discussion on was the tablet companion device, replacement, fad, executive jewelry, niche product etc.
the tablet which had iOS spawned useless discussions on compatibility, usability, no peripherals etc. thus the thinking at that time adoption will quiet down next quarter (which turned out to be several quarters) hence ok to not act, wait for the storm to pass
as for the phone came the extrapolation of what consumers will want based on projected OS market share stabilization.
and more examples of confused logic, as in basic confusion between root causes and consequences, what is fixed, what can evolve etc.

Intel didn't bet on the wrong thing. We tried hard to win the phone market, but failed.
it was not so obvious back then. PSO even had strategic discussions on PC compared to phone which one to prevail. wake up intel.
One thing is sure - Intel will enter in the history of business administration as the best example on how to miss opportunities, how to use unlimited ressources for failing every attempt to enter new markets, how to buy companies, destroy them and sell them later with a loss and how to kill creativity and destroy morale.
