Directors becoming Senior Managers ! (you reap what you sow !! )

It is hilarious comedy to see that most of the director (bums) have been demoted as Senior Managers and been told take it or leave it !

Does anybody know how Strategist / Master / Expert / Specialist are treated ??

DXC has a "span of control" definition that forces all people managers to have at least 30 direct reports. The only way to accomplish this is to combine teams that have less than that and demote one of the managers. This results in managers being demoted to IC's, Directors being demoted to managers, etc. I am not sure how one manager can effectively manage 30+ direct reports when they have trouble with less than that, but the emphasis is on cost control, not on employee experience. This also means that they can reduce bonus structure, pay raises, etc. and perhaps demoralize people into leaving. There is no emphasis on quality or performance, just cost. They can also justify moving those people out or moving their job overseas since they are high cost for their job grade.

CSC pulled the same cr@p a few times over the last decade - demoting Directors to Sr. Managers. While your salary may stay the same, the impact is significant. I went through it a few years ago. As soon as you are on the books at the lower level, they can play games by pulling or reducing bonuses, commissions, option grants, etc. You are excluded from the critical decisions you used to be included in, and you are eventually marginalized.

I agree with the poster below, that is your cue to get out. I didn't and wound up being RIFED a few years later despite excellent results and great reviews.

I am so glad to be done with that den of C-level thieves.

Demotion without pay cut translates to: we cannot kick you out right now but want you to ease on outta here.

Why demote and not lower the pay? Exercise is a waste.

There is precedence for this. A glob of PM were made into individual performers couple years ago. No pay decreases as I recall but growth stunted overnight and resources were reassigned to designated people managers.

I doubt that this is occurring across the company. Come with real facts.

If they are making the same money, it hardly makes a difference what you call senior managers or any manager for that matter. all that they do is roam about the campus if they come to office
