Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

June 13 Unlucky for Several at Bank of America

Was there an employment bloodletting at Bank of America today. Did it appear to be geriatric employment gynocide?

Was laid off on June 13, 2017. Severance package received. More than 10 years there. Based in Charlotte, NC. I was not MyWork. I thought I'd be sad when I got the news, instead I felt happy and free. After I got the news, a mid-year review reminder email popped up and I smiled that I didn't need to do that this year. When I saw others get severanced, I always felt bad for them. But when it was my turn, I saw that getting severanced was a blessing. I was now able to go to an extended trip with family and take a break from the corporate world. Talented people always landed on their feet. All the severanced BofA employees that I knew of were doing very well for themselves at other companies.

SOrry, misunderstood your situations! How many people were affected?

You completely misunderstood me dll. I said it's not age related because people all over the spectrum got fired today, including me, and I'm definitely on the younger side. People in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s got fired so how is it age related? I was told if was specifically because they are trying to consolidate teams to specific locations (cheaper locations like Plano) and that these jobs will be replaced with people in the area. I was also told I was let go because I don't have office space, i.e My Work. I just went to a meeting for boot camp and I was youngest in the room by 10-15 years so there are plenty of older people still working in tech at Bank.

Aren't you classy, dhj. Obviously you did not lose your job today. Learn how to be gracious and sensitive. Everyone knows at the bank ( if you've been around a while), once your in an age group and salary range, you neck is on the block. Your obviously with the bank. Please be more respectful. Your quick responses just make the bank look worse and I did have good years when I started at the bank.

It was not age-related - if you're on the list, you're on the list

@oqf - you cannot post names here. would you want your name to be posted on a public forum?

i guess when it comes to CEOs and other key people, it's OK as they are public individuals, but it's not cool to post employee names.

read the privacy policy or whatever they have in the footer here on layoffs.com - you'll see that the site does not allow this.

let me guess what happens now, they will nuke the whole thread and they will ban your ip forever...

not a smart move.
