Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Cenovus + Dark Ages

What is with the lack of technology at Cenovus? It's like the Dark Ages here. Also, what's with the leadership? It's the "fear" style over here. It's terrible. If you want to look good, give your teams the best chance at success. If your teams succeed then you will look good in the process. Ugh...

It'd odd how most of the new Conoco employees don't have the prefix 'Senior' or 'Staff' in their job titles. Probably makes it easier to lay them off once the divestments are finalized.

Sounds like COP staff that have been offered a job at Cenovus shouldn't get to comfortable!

Should be at least a couple hundred layoffs once they get through divesting Pelican, Suffield and the as yet unknow 40kbbls/d.

The problem at Cenovus isn't a lack of technology, it's a lack of business acumen. Buying Conoco's junk assets in the first place and paying a 40% premium for them in the second. The continual focus on non-core business ventures is especially galling when the share price has tumbled so far. The CEO is paid well to perform well and he has failed to do so for several years now.

Get used to it, its the Cenovus way. If you don't like it, don't worry soon there will be another lay off round.
