Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Scraping the bottom of the barrel

So we're now being asked to "honor the spirit and letter" of DXC's new more draconian travel restrictions. These new restrictions not only limit flying for business purposes, but also apply a blanket ban on catering for all internal meetings, and limit expense claims for journeys made by car.

This follows an internal "get2know your leadership" meeting, where employees were invited to purchase their own coffee before the meeting, and a general cut back on providing refreshments to on-site employees.

DXC now stand for nothing more than petty-minded, penny pinching cutbacks, as they desperately try to save $1bn; no doubt to fund a bonus for their top-tier management!

During the call during which i was made redundant I received an email full of smiley faces telling me how much I'd cost HPE in phone calls and Skype. It truly summed up what the company had become and what they think of us all.

I blame Turd for starting it but Whitman has taken it to new heights.

No great surprise here either. Under HP the employer-funded coffee machines were quietly removed from service when they broke down and no cost center would fund the repairs. Also snack food vending machines appeared in the office soon afterwards along with charity chocolate sellers.

The monthly consumption reports are laughable but the consumption of IT services are actually charged to your cost center! Occasionally there will be meals funded by "employee morale" (an oxymoron?) which is a reason code on credit card receipting.

No pay rise in 7 years and small bonuses under the previous lot. Will it be any better in the future?

I agree with this comment. It is not really the fact that we need to pay for our coffee and food (in our location we always needed to pay for it - only in very rare occassions it was provided) - but just the fact that the company does not do ANY effort anymore for its employees.

so we also get every month a mail with our "consumption" - mobile, one.com,.. to remind us that we are only a COST to the company, and not an asset anymore.

I gained 10 pounds at my new job because of all the catered food and we get an annual budget to attend conferences.

Successful businesses can do that. They grow their revenue the correct way, not by squeezing blood from the turnip, but by providing quality services and gaining more marketshare.

DXC (and HPE) have not had direction at the topmost levels in a long time. The c-suite is more concerned at juggling the share prices to get the short term effects that will earn them the most profits without actually expending effort to get new customers and expand their business.

People losing jobs and incomes and you're complaining about not being able to fly or get catering on the company's dime?

You have a HUUGE wake up call coming.

CSC is not employee focused. Well looked over employees is not part of Mike's game plan. Managers can't Even hire necessary employees. Next they will charge the accounts for using the printer.

@kzm, well I'd like to see how you'd react to things that have been provided "as standard" for years eroded away in the name of corporate penny pinching. The HP way was founded on the ideas that a well looked after workforce are happier and more productive, but these ideals have sadly been forgotten.

Complaints from management for not having catering! Poor lil boy has to buy his own coffee and sandwich!

You sound grossly entitled! Be happy to have a job!
