I was just laid off yesterday. I heard that they decided to wait and do layoffs after the spin merger so they wouldn't have to meet higher severance requirements. After 8.5 years of service with HP/HPE I got only 1 week notice and 5 weeks severance. HPE was (is) great. DXC not so much.

Please recommend a CA wrongful termination attorney!
Was your severance pay called a VSI severance bonus instead and taxed at a higher rate? So in reality I got paid for 2 1:2 weeks instead of 5. :(
Well I have worked for 8 years and they paid me for 1 week and 1/10 of the 4 weeks severance pay that they told me in an email. Does anyone know how to contact them? Person, phone number or an email?
That is nothing compared to me, I have 27 years with the company (so 18.5 more years than you), and I am only getting 8 weeks of severance (3 more weeks than you). This is not a fair package at all.
Unless you are high up in the company and you actually have a contract that includes a severance package with specific details, you are at the complete mercy of the company - at least in the US. Here employees have very few rights because it's "employment at will"
Well I will correct myself - I suppose option 2 is take the multibillion dollar multinational company to court on your own nickel. How do you think that will go?
LOL - Europeans. ;)
In the US, you don't have an 'accept' option. One of the following happens:
1) You get a RIF notice and you take the package they give you based on current policy
or
2) oh, that's right, there is no other option.
Why did u accept it? Why can't you go for a case against the company?
Now it is time to think differently rather than keeping our mouth shut...
Sorry to hear. Regrettably, the miserabilists still reign and it's only a matter of time before the toxin spreads and more of your colleagues join the ranks.
Good luck to you. We're waiting for the ax to fall.
Are you from the US?
