Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Employee engagement the new buzzword

I've had many bosses over the last 2 years. My latest just turned in their notice. Taking an 'opportunity' with a company slight less popular than united airlines. Where does that put honeywell? Look for leaders to push engagement and the need to recruit from the bottom of barrel new grads hitting the streets soon. I feel a morale obligation to warn them. Maybe post it notes saying "run" and "help me" under the keyboards.

Question. Why is Honeywell trying to hire anyone when they have just got done laying of do many? I think what the are offering the hires is a low wage and low benefits ; hire cheap to keep cost down. Get rid of high pay people.

Yes the cafeteria at the site is outsourced to the lowest bidder.

I'm sure the vendor has been cut to the bone so to not have any wiggle room for profit. That's the Honeywell way; live on the backs of suppliers & customers. Spread the misery all the way up and down the chain. I have nothing against the workers, they are doing the best they can.

True story.

Ummm...I'm pretty sure the cafeteria employees are not HON employees, but rather a 3rd party HON uses to run the food services, vending and catering. Any QC issues with the cafeteria should be with an outside company, not HON.

That said, I don't see HON giving a sh-- about their employees to ensure the cafeterias are anything above minimal. Unless you are C-Suite and get to eat Dairyass daily

My ex-manager is trying to get me back in there to an Aero site. I may be not working right now but...no way!

I'd be the first target for a random PIP quota. Plus, why would I want to work an extra free month per year just so executives can make more money for themselves? All why I get "unlimited vacation", no retirement plan, no future, no promotions, no advancement, no working on anything not less than 10 year old technology, and a crappy cafeteria to boot.

Speaking of that, I found out by accident that at the site I worked at a couple of years ago, the cafeteria uses skillets which are non-stick but they are so overused & worn out, the teflon has worn off in places, and was getting into the food. I got to where I had to quit eating there, especially breakfast. So the fry cook told me that he had been trying for years to get them to budget for new skillets, even just replace those (should be done annually, at least) but they wouldn't pay for them! So after a year he got them to buy just ONE skillet and to heck with any more. HE should feel "lucky" to get one, for the benefit of the employees to not get poisoned by ONE skillet. Like he gets paid enough to care much.

Doesn't that sound like a typical Honeywell story? While they preach "healthy lifestyle" and living, and prodding you with flu shots & blood tests and force employees on "wellness" crap they don't even practice what they preach on even that.

Last one out's a rotten egg. OP I like your idea about the sticky notes. I proposed to my co-workers body chalk marks in the cubes of the befallen.

Same thing at sky harbor. One team has had 3 reqs open for over 5 months and either the applicants aren't qualified or they turn the offer down. The word is out! Stay as far away from HON as you can. There is no future here.

They are having a hard time filling any positions here in Tempe , especially production support. Internal or external. Half the attrition is young talent leaving for better opportunities. Or any opportunity really.

Nah, they will learn what a joke this company is by the end of the 1st day. It's better to let them stay, get entrenched in their jobs, then leave. This way the managers are scrambling to cover the hole in productivity, further slowing down the entire process.
