Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

And the good news keeps coming...

"To drive productivity, each SBG must achieve a 1 percent fixed cost reduction in 2018 that is above and beyond any already approved restructurIng. "

Assuming that's not a typo, the beatings will continue next year as well.

Pension payments are fixed costs and I think matching 401K contributions are too. Legally these can’t be taken away without giving the employee some advance notice. This might be why the letter said 2018 instead of 2017.

Fixed costs can also include costs of salaried employees.

I have a GREAT idea!! Let those that can work from home, work from home! Downsize greatly the workspace, cutting all utility costs, as well as on site security, parking, cafeterias etc.

What a mind-bending novel idea! Someone should have thought of this HUGE cost saving measure long ago!

Wait. They did.

Our leaders are so ..... smart? Right

Duh

Fixed costs mean things like buildings, not people. Example is Tempe that is already announced. Would assume this means there will be other building consolidations in the future.
