Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How about a round of applause for all the ex employees

The long term ones who helped build this company and were then thrown overboard to boost the top guys pay. The ones who really built this Company.

In stagnation hell. Processed to death by the powers that be with a plan to put all engineering prowess on paper such that ANY BODY can be an AERO engineer. There is no substitute to those aero hacks that designed the SR71 with primitive tools such as the slide rule. Old aerospace engineers rule! The Apollo missions were the last great risk and challenge . . . Next up with Côte and his sucessors . . . Reorg to make business unit sell outs easier. We all have been sold down the river with the fat cats at the top salivating on there take in slicing and dicing premium cuts of the old aerospace legacy. Tim M. is jabba the hut!

-1gqj: here's to you and your dad. A very nice tribute. I put in 29 years myself. Retired just a few years ago. The last few years there I was treated horribly. It is shameful how they treat their longtime contributors.

My dad worked for Honeywell for almost 30 years as an engineer is Aero. He was genuinely proud of what he did and the fact that he worked for Honeywell. He passed away last year and when we went through his closet to find his favorite suit that he would be buried in, I was touched to find a Honeywell pin on the lapel that he still proudly wore 23 years after retiring. It's sad that because of Honeywell management's treatment of employees over the last 15 years, you don't see that same pride and loyalty from employees because they have been beaten down for too long. We let dad take the pin with him to his next life and maybe he is hanging out with other aero engineers that helped build the company and talking about the good old days.

I pass by Cliff Garrett's photo in the 503 hall and wonder. Even if he tried, could he screw up the company faster than current management has? Sometimes it's better to pass on, than to witness what happens when greed and fear become the driving force behind your work.

Many of the people that built the mechanical part of Aero in Phx and Cali have passed on. Sadly It's been my generation, the baby boomers that have worked so hard the last 10 + years to destroy it. I sometimes attend retiree luncheons and the pioneers, men and women that are now 80+ YO are so sad to hear of what's happened at the once proud legacy they left.
