Allstate rumored to move majority of its operations out of Illinois and Ohio

Allstate rumored to move majority of its operations out of Illinois by 2018. Most open jobs no longer being filled in Illinois. HR interviews indicate strong preference to Charlotte & Dallas. Major layoffs in 2017, Manager & Senior Manager positions gradually moving out of the country to Northern Ireland & India. Will Directors & VP positions follow? Employees likely to be asked to move with no relocation benefits, which may lead to massive attrition. Planning to sell off buildings at Headquarters. Hudson, OH location to downsize/close entirely sooner or later.

As a former employee who worked for Allstate for over two years, the worst company to work for. I was an assistant for a Sales manager who was disrespectful, rude, threatened my position, embarrassed me in front of the whole office and he was on a power trip.

I don't think Glenn is such a bad guy. To be completely honest, I think he is a great innovator and as far as the lay off go. That is just too bad. That is just the way business goes. Some people will get laid off and some won't. But if getting laid off ruins these peoples lives then that must be their fault for not having any back up plans or not having any other sources of income. I mean yeah he never affected me personally but I do believe that they aren't evil or even bad people. They are just doing what they have to do.

I used to feel, think, believe that Allstate was the absolute best company that I've ever worked for, 7 years later it's a complete change of heart. Ever since Glenn Shapiro came in they fckd this company up and they DO NOT care about their employees. I remember a regional leader showing me a chart of how Allstate is making money hand over fists since moving claims to QFC. Shapiro and Tom Wilson sign off on each other's bonuses... Funny how they both have multi million dollar salaries yet the people who keep the wheels rolling and dealing with a mountain of stress from working in claims gets absolutely nothing at the end of the year. It's a really sad thing. Raises are horrible, pay rate s---s, too much stress and they don't appreciate you. Allstate total Loss ABO is ran exactly like a slave plantation... Micro manage, leaders put in place who no absolutely nothing about the process and they basically have to learn from. Customer service has turned for the worst also for customers... All in all Fck Allstate. Fck Glenn Shapiro, fck Tom Wilson evil b--tards.. They only care to fatten the wallets even more. Oh yeah and tons of people were laid off or had to uproot their families all for the sake of business. They also hired tons of people in India, I'm sure they don't get paid much but this is that slave master mentality of the company.

I work at Allstate. Shapiro is the worst thing to happen to this company in my 15 years here.

My brother in law just got a job with Allstate working internal auto claims.

I guess the quick photo claims.

They did not offer him any field work.

I feel this may be their downfall but Allstate always made bad upper management decisions.

Why this doesn't surprise me. The last couple years working as a field tech, crazy things began to happen to me. I was constantly reprimanded to not completing heavy hits in drive in under 20 min. Also, I had regional staff get on my case for not handling customers that were 2 hrs late or did not have an appointment during my break (I never got one) or during my lunch hour that was usually 5-10 minutes long. I developed some physical problems causing me not to be able to inspect undercarriage damage. Management would not accept this as an excuse because one woman field tech always crawled under and inspected every square inch. As time went on I went out on a disability leave. After a certain amount of time I was give the ultimatum to either return to work or quit. After 30 yrs working for the "Ivory Towers" I decided to retire. I contacted the HR supervisor advising her of this. I knew her since I started with the company and she was in claims as well. Instructions were given to me to contact home office. Questions came up that I tried contacting the local HR supervisor. Somehow, messages got back to home office because a rep from there would call me. In short, I never received a call back from the HR supervisor. As a matter of fact, I never did receive a call nor a congratulatory card for my time I invested with the company. For the record, I handled three claims for the HR supervisor. This meant clearing my schedule some I resolved their claim immediately. The only thing I have to say is don't hold your breath regarding severance pay. That is usually reserved for the "Golden Hand Shake" for the Regional VP's.

Apparently the CIO admitted in a town hall that they are planning to sell property in Northbrook and make money. Turn this into some kind of a mall or commercial space. So buckle up to be fired / relocated. If you are close to retirement, wait for the severance. Coming to your nearest location soon.

It's happening, field auto claims are drying up in the NW, Quick Photo Claim has destroyed the one aspect that makes Allstate who they are, often times the field adjuster was the only live person a customer would interact with during their claim process, now the process involves a picture from the customer and then pass the customers to the body shops, and obviously the body shop would never say anything negative about an insurance company, right? From one side of management we hear "quality is the flavor of the month" and then we put our insureds through Quick Photo and in return we give them all of 15 minutes of our time to rush an estimate that compensates them for about one third of the actual damage on their vehicles, because after all this is the best way to treat a customer that has been with Allstate for 10, 15 or 20 years.

They are focusing on where they can get cheap talent. Targeting Millenials. Not sure why since they just come in for a couple years, get training & experience & then leave for 30-40% more. Most employees only getting 2-3% raises if they are lucky. Eventually, if the market keeps looking good, the older people will leave like they want. Problem is Allstate has great vacation policy and a pension. Most companies don't and so people don't leave.

I applied for a position from Cleveland and the recruiter asked me if I am willing to relocate to Charlotte. Said no, but Chicago would be fine and that was the end of it.

At the headquarters, Barrington Office was closed long time ago, building razed to the ground, West Plaza in Northbrook sold, Willow Road plaza is being emptied getting ready for sale. Looks like the plan is to just keep the North building, keep leadership here and move the minions out of Illiois

I can tell you 100% that the field work in my area is drying up quickly. Normally this time of year we're at full bore with claims. Lately I'm just cleaning up supplements and a few non-drives. It seems they have already started with the QuickFoto claims as the main review point. There are virtual positions available but not enough to cover the amount of field worker who will be impacted in my opinion.

Allstate is laying off it field appraiser's (aka) Auto field tech's country wide due to the Quick Photo Claim. The management is hiding this from the employee's until the Dallas and Charlotte operation is up and running. Mad Man Glenn Shapiro that came from Liberty Mutual is running the company into the ground. Will the Board of Directors let him is the question. If you have an Auto claim Allstate will ask you to take some photo's and they will send you an estimate. Anyone with half a brain knows that you can't see all the damage in a photo. You wont' get an itemized estimate of all the damages you're owed. Allstate is banking on half the customers won't get their cars repaired and won't have to pay out the missed damages.

Is Allstate being bought by someone else? Is that the reason for the restructuring?

Any news on anyone else being affected? I'm a field auto tech and a little concerned. I'm in the Pennsylvania market.

Not surprising. Its rival State Farm has already done this moving IT operations to Dallas.
