Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

To the people asking g about lesSSN monet at another job.

I stayed and passed up a great job, better hours for less money, because I felt a loyalty and the greed that this gs are gonna pick up. They fired the most experienced guys in my field, my boss, coworkers etc. They had retirements thanks God. These guys could run entire divisors s by themselves and do it successfully if given the chance. They however wrestling just #shoot ND non mana entry, no engineers. This company puts to high an emphasis on a degree. The #####is and has always been in the field. These kids that are golden boy engineers don't know crap. They however become makers who don't know crap. Best run company in the world ha. They cut there head off thiso time and learned nothing from previous downturns. Technology won't save you from lack of ecoerinced men and women who were loyal. I will take the 10 years minimum to reccover. Any American ran company which is loyal to there employees and wants to work hard will overtake these yahoos. It's all a damned lie, the best, the best. It's all just about $$$$$$ Had direct orders to violate safety protocols etc just the get jobs done, that was lie#1. Lie #2 We care about employees, Lie #3 you can move up fast. You hit a certain level and are not an engineer your done, that it. Even if you are an engineer you stagnate. Thousands of them all scratching for a desk in Houston or Paris. If you half an offer elsewhere run like hell!!!!!!! These guys will use you like a Bangkok hooked and toss you out in a NYC minite after a life of dedicated service and in a blink of an eye.

I understand the rant, but it was a known fact that 85% of SLB employees jumped ship in the first 3 years, even in the times of extreme growth. It was a known fact that SLB put a massive emphasis to degrees, that seeks people graduating with a certain GPA, and only from certain schools. The business model is to use the massive reserves of cash to acquire companies, take the patents, get the competition out of the market and move on. Safety violations, incidents not reported, threats, and so on are an obvious consequence when a company knows that it can bully its way around and stall anybody with enough attorneys. And in the worst cases, it does have enough cash to quietly settle and keep a sparkling clean image. Remember, innocent until proven guilty, if they can payoff people to keep quiet and avoid to go to court, it's immoral, but not illegal.
