Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Whatever happen to the previously used-to-death "pure-play global IT services powerhouse" catch phrase?

I recall that catch phrase was used lavishly during the initial stages of the split merge news but after the recent announcement made and company named as DXC Technology, whatever happen to "pure play global IT services powerhouse"? Nothing really adds up. The new name does not project any kind of powerhouse feel nor does it invoke any sense of legacy inherited from EDS and CSC combined.

It was announced as April 1, but then someone changed it from April Fools day!

It's just the "digital transformation" as well as “Cloud” is so over used and really doesn’t define anything.

New buzz words for the same old thing, "digital transformation"  computers

Cloud  Internet-based computing, we’ve been accessing servers via the internet (IP) for decades.

The other form of Cloud computing “cloud computing allows companies to avoid up-front infrastructure costs” , which again is what we and other companies have been doing for decades with out-sourcing.

Cloud equals virtualized systems deployed , hosted by someone else.

"Digital transformation" mean’s nothing. A new word to say the same dam thing

In the UK, there are laws to protect employees. The US is much more labor-hostile.

Over on the CSC board, there's been plenty of discussion of their severance terms -- something like one week's salary for every two complete years of service. Between that and no vacation accrual, you can't really count on anything beyond the current paycheck.

We are so screwed.

There will be many more WFRs; the merged company has said it will save $1bn in "synergies" in the first year. "Synergies" = layoffs and $1bn means a lot of layoffs.

In the UK, people are still getting the same redundancy terms as previously.

First DXC layoff/WFR is scheduled for April 2, 2017 within minutes of going into existence. I wonder how many more WFR's are to come. Nice to get a reputation like that. Wonder what the severance policy is NOW. Jump ship while you can before you lose all your hard earned benefits that are still left.
