Hi,

I'm post ID: @KzZ6tE8-4gyw.

The only email I got was a meeting invite with my manager, the HR representative, and the other employees who were getting laid off.

In the meeting he told us what was happening. He even said that our site would be closing eventually, so that was pretty telling.

Cheers!

To the person that got RIF'ed below, did you volunteer and receive an email confirming such?

I have not heard a definite word on when volunteers are allowed to know if they were chosen or not.

ISC Furlough between Christmas and New Year makes sense. In years past it was a shutdown week and now many people just take vacation. Skeleton production crew for critical path items and full shipping crew would be the most effective way for Honeywell to schedule a furlough. If they do have a RIF in January they won't have to pay employees for their unused vacation and fiscally take the RIF saving in 2016 and only pay them to the new (13) week max. severance pay.

Good advise posted recently, take all your vacation ASAP if you believe you're in jeopardy of being RIF'd.

I also received unemployment benefits in Sept furlough because I filed in June. We shall see how it rolls out on Dec. 5 ISC Town Hall

Yes, there are people including myself that have received unemployment in AZ during the past furloughs. I will again if there is in fact one in december.

My guess is they have been monitoring the attrition rate and more people have left than they had planned for so that they are rethinking the rif numbers. Tempe has lost a lot of people to other companies in the past 2 months. From various areas like shop floor, manufacturing engineers, Pricing, contracts, program management office or PMO. Lots of movement.

If the RIF is being delayed till January, then the geniuses must have screwed up badly. But don’t wait for them to tell you that, as it will confirm what is already known, i.e., they haven’t a clue what they’re doing. The idea of the RIF is to save money, and a delay of several weeks is costing them a lot of money, and they did promise to move quickly. Also, generally, most people, and especially businesses, would prefer to start the new year with a clean slate, so something is amiss. Perhaps, as someone has suggested, they may be in violation of regulations.

Is it at all possible though, that they may have a bit of conscience after all and not want to do it before Christmas? Nah, not possible, just wishful thinking on our part. Besides the volunteers are asking for it, so they can at least let them go now.

There is no shutdown money. The large offices are always open. Lights are always on. Even on a shutdown there are people working.

January makes more sense for financials. Think about a furlough or RIF. You potentially save some money. The tough part is you have to save that same money the next year to remain flat year over year.

Easier to plan for that if you do the big RIF in January. You get the rest of the year to figure out how you going to do the same again next time around.

Could it be they just weren't organized in HR it legal? OR.... legal found something they need to correct? Just guessing.

Not sure what the dept of economic security poster heard, but confirmed today, by a source in the know, NO Q4 furlough.

Has anyone in AZ received unemployment for furloughs this year? I know the first 5 days is the waiting week and benefits start day 6 but I thought it had to be consecutive? So we would only be eligible if HON did back to back week furloughs.

az dept of economic security has approved unemployment checks for the week of 12/10.

This would be for a furlough-- which ahem, followed the last RIF. Might be this week. Our condolences to anyone who may be effected.

Normally, responsible and intelligent beings would step in and quell all of the disruptive and demoralizing rumors with truths and facts, but since this company doesn't seem to have any responsible and intelligent beings in its leadership team, expect more of the same.

After so many months, it seems like they still can’t make final decisions on RIF, furlough, WFH, new org, salary adjustment, or anything else for that matter. God help us with these incompetent idiots.

If you've been paying attention to other posts, rumor now has it's for Dec. 5th but prior to that date it was week before Thanksgiving. I've heard this RIF is now planned for Q1 so WHO KNOWS?
