Letter went out at formal Elster facility asking for volunteers to be laid off. Have no clue what they are offering, will medical insurance be covered until the end of year, and approx termination date. Asking us to sign something by tomorrow but HR not answering my email in last day and a half. Any idea folks on whats what?

Sorry,but you can get unemployment ,but not until your severance is over.
lol no, that's why it's beyond retarded to volunteer.
People who volunteer either have another option, or are 90% sure they will have another option or are close to retirement.
For everyone else, volunteering is just stupid unless you were planning on quiting already.
You not going to get unemployment benefits if you volunteer?

Be careful it could be a set up to lure you in thinking you will get 26 weeks but then they wait til January 2017 and you will only get 13 weeks. HR will not confirm how many weeks severance you will get for Self Nomination or volunteering.
You insurance covers you through your severance period. The rumor is the layoff next year will be only 1 week of severance for every 2 years of service.
