Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

To the many RIFed and soon to be jobless...

I found, after getting the boot, most interviewers out in the industry were very aware of the situation at Honeywell in recent years. Even better, most know Honeywell is actively kicking talented people to the curb. One recruiter told me "I get some of my best leads from RIFed people at Honeywell, customers love them" It's a faulty selection process, and its proving quite lucrative for other companies looking for good people. Don't hang on to it as anything more than a growth point and an opportunity to explore new options. Someone else posted here, and it is true, having the knowledge that surprise layoffs and furloughs are not part of the equation is a perk worth jumping ship for. The lie that aerospace in general is all failing and belt tightening across the board is false. Honeywell made many bad choices and is now tanking for it, but you don't have to. My advice would be to use your resources like this site, and your peers for resume reviews so when the ax does fall you will be walking away with a smile.

If you are over 50 and 20+ years at Honeywell. And denied VRIF. Think about it. They are changing the pension. You will be given a choice. A buyout of approx 6 years. Or retire now and get your pension NO SEVERANCE PACKAGE. This company continues to sink lower and lower. S---s big time when you have given them your career

Too valuable to the business function to be let go, but still too common to be treated with an iota of respect. This company has a funny way of appreciating the folks who make their profits for them.

Jesus....I volunteered to be RIFd and was declined. Sux for those non-cold when there are people like me who want to get the heck out of here and can't. I tried to do my part and save someone.

Honeywell has no moral compass.

Was forced out of Honeywell sim months ago. During my interview processes expectant employers when asked why I was leaving, I was honest and told about all the furloughs / RIFs going on in Honeywell, Now I am enjoying working at a good company with growth potential and advising past colleagues to get out of Honeywell!

There have been cases of Managers actively targeting people for RIFs but telling the employee to their face that they are doing fine. Even more cases of the mysterious and unexpected PIP appearing out of nowhere. Conveniently just before a RIF of course. In most cases for us its only after several steps down the line when we realize we are being railroaded into unemployment and usually nothing we can do about it. If you are over 40, with or without a PIP, its not a matter of if but when the ax will fall. Its not just Honeywell though, its everywhere. The only way to survive is to hop companies and put in as much 401k as you can afford. The days of staying at one company that cares about you and your family's future are gone. Better to move on then try to stick it out anywhere, especially not at Honeywell. Too many good guys thrown out. Damn shame.

They want people that don't plan to stay. That's why they are making it more and more uncomfortable for any of us old timers. My take they will reap what they sow because soon no one will take a job with them or care when they do about doing a good days work. Corporate greed at its utmost. So very far from the founder Cliff Garretts moral compass. Sad truely sad.
