Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

No, it's not "just 4 days"…for me, it's over a $1000 reduction in pay

And it's going to hurt me financially. I'll make do, for sure, but what is happening is I'm looking at a reduction in pay for 2017, and rather than simply reducing my salary over 26 pay period, they are taking it out on me all at once.

When I hear "it's just 4 days," that doesn't make it better.

While I'm grateful this wasn't a RIF, it doesn't mean that this doesn't s---.

HBT is the old ACS group. The security and fire business is a disaster since security and fire merged. The leadership is top heavy with book smart MBA's pushing HOS. The customers are leaving as they are being poorly served, there are no new products to speak of and they want the customers to be one stop shops and sell the entire fire and security portfolio. Honeywell would be smart to sell the business to a company that wants it to grow and succeed. So sad to see good employees fed up and leave as well as how long time customers are being treated.

Regarding the reply on unemployment, it depends on the state. In Kentucky you can claim unemployment during a furlough...but it has to be 5 days. Since this is over a holiday (which the employees get paid for), they can't collect unemployment for the 4 days. Not sure how it works in other states.

The great recession? Nah - DC is doing this so that he will keep getting all those awards before he retires and all that money.

What bothers me, a lot, is that this isn't the Great Recession. Cote and company are doing all of this to keep INCREASING profit margin despite no increase in Sales, and Wall Street is lapping it up.

I'm not sure this person even works at Hon as he replied to one post with vulgar language then said " go back to work " it was Saturday.

He feels empowered by putting everyone else down.

Good site for the most part. There's always one.

How sad that people have to refer to name calling.

We are all in this together. Maybe some people should remember that

To whomever posted "Be glad you have a job b--chboy", you need to grow up. The industry as whole is NOT in a downturn. It's just Honeywell. Raytheon and UTC are just two of the large companies that are hiring away Honeywell employees en masse. Those companies are doing very well. Making a statement that one feels mistreated by unpaid furloughs and RIF's while execs get millions in bonuses doesn't make one a b--chboy. Perhaps you should find post elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of other bridges out there under which you can hide.

NOT Arizona. The first week is not covered. So when they space out the furloughs they don't have to pay unemployment.

I work at Aero in Engineering. Got furloughed one week in 2016. We got around 3-4 weeks notice. Collected unemployment but that didn't make make up much of the $$$. Remember that any deductions you have on a 2 week basis (insurance or HSA etc.) will still be taken out in full. I went in thinking I would get half pay. My take home was more like 35% of normal.

In most states you can collect unemployment since it is more than one day

We were given just 2 weeks notice. Is that Aero's experience.

And HBT has to really had a bad year or Q4 if they start out 2017 with a furlough. The whole creation of HBT is something I'm still figuring out. I'm relatively new to Honeywell and a company this size. So, I'm figuring it all out on the fly.

I kind of laughed at this post... Sorry people in HBT and OP...

Aero was hit with three of these last year... But 5 days each. We know how you feel, and I'm not saying you have no right to be upset.... But I'd advice you plan for more of these... Have a solid 4 weeks of safety cash on reserve... One for each quarter, if this maintains the trend.

I plan on putting them on unwork furlough the week after. I figure turn around is fair play.

You know they expect us to make up the 4 day shortfall in work they missed the previous week. AIN'T gonna happen.

Is the former ACS, (home security, alarms, etc.) group in Melville, NY, now part of HBT? If anyone can share some details it will help understand what is happening with the engineers of that group and others in that location...thx

HBT is Home & Building Technologies. We are the successors of the old ACS. I don't even know what all is in HBT.

This was my first post here, but I'm talking about the furlough for the first week of the year for HBT. We will get holiday pay for Jan 2, 2017, but the rest of the week is no work/no pay.
