Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell selling massive amounts of real-estate

Recent reports indicate that Honeywell Aerospace is selling many of their assets, not sure what is up, maybe bracing for large buyout or major dismantling of the businesses. All these decisions are going on in the closed area on the 3rd floor of the Sky Harbort building (M&A group).

Tempe - Building 1207 is up for sale (dislocating thousands of Honeywell employees and with no work from home options, may will leave for more stable companies)

Tucson - Two Building up for sale the admin building and the delapidated lunch building. Celestac taking over Tucson capmus refused to invest in buildings (rumor they will move production out to a yet undisplcosed loaction in the future) Many already leaving Tucson, a ghost town after Prouse laid off hundreds just prior to the celestica agreement

Phoenix - (34th and Sky Harbor) Yet to be defined building to be offered up for sale as well as the engine and apu business itself

Deer Valley - TBD

Glendale - TBD

Rocky Mount & South Bend - TBD

Clearwater - TBD

All in all, it may be best to be one of the ones sold off, as any other company will be a better more stable future than the one Honeywell employees have now.

Question is will disgruntled emplouyees affect Honeywells ability to sell buildings. Will new buyers be fearful of subjectign any businesses to failign corporate dogma. who if emplyees talk of disturbing issues in these buildings?

How Honeywell expects to profit off the backs of employees and also ask the employees to help them do so is incredulous

Glendale is doing government work that is classified. They looked at this site earlier in the year and decided it would be too costly to move so they are sticking with it where is. At one time they considered Deer Valley but last I heard, they were keeping that site as well.

To The Cynic - Glendale is leased (at $50k/week). HON does not own it, so getting rid/moving us should be "easy".

Deer Valley? The old old Sperry Flight Systems campus (old Honeywell red)? The gem in the crown? I don't think so. There is no Aerospace without this site. Learn history. Like literally, one hundred years worth.

Very little hardware moving from Torrance. Build way more than the few p/n's that were outsourced and the simple stuff sent to Mex.

Hardware has been coming back to Torrance due to Mex inability to deliver hardware.

This is no surprise as HON doesn't need all that space if they're never going to replace the people who have been RIFed or left on their own. Consolidation of sites is a "no-brainer" in that regard. Besides, the real estate they own is probably worth more than the company by some measures! Some of the facilities get massive public corporate welfare so as long as they keep picking pockets they'll keep them open. The real "entitled" at work.

At Olathe, KS, there are multiple product divisions of HON consolidated from other sites to that one building which was a company directive for some time. What was humorous/sad was when talking to some of those employees from other product lines (other than Aero which is the primary) they all had similar stories of being a fully functional company of some sort that HON bought out then destroyed, just like they always do! So many people have lost their jobs due to the HON tornado striking them. So they had empty cubes everywhere & bad morale just like Aero! What a model!

So expect all the juice being continually squeezed out as long as immoral incompetent crooks run the company. Just like the mafia.

For an example of another company's history of real estate assets look at Texas Instruments. They owned a huge profile of real estate & sold off most of it in the late 1990s when they decided to become a reduced product company. I'm sure they made out well, especially in Austin.

Deer Valley will be retained to house Tempe, Glendale is govt. and cannot be touched, Clearwater getting new business from other sites (off shore) south bend in a bitter labor dispute but nothing there as well as Rocky Mountain is quiet.

I agree with zuy below. Torr. may be in trouble if they build the last phase In Mexicali

Hon wants to consolidate all of Phx locations as tight as they can.

Phoenix engines getting out of buildings 103 & 422 is the rumor around here.

Some parts and assemblies out of Torrance CA. moving to Mexicali and outside suppliers.

Redmond secure as they are bringing in new work stations and modernization
