Managers like me are being asked to be prepared to cancel vacation next week for employees on vacation who are on RIF list.

@1tma: what does their stated policy (which apparently you signed up for) mean to YOU? Pretty clearly it means that you will get whatever severance all the IVRIFers will get when they get it. If the RIF happens in Jan, everyone affected by the RIF (both V and IV) will get whatever severance pkg is in effect at RIF time, not what was in effect when you threw your hat in the ring.
Just another example of HW underhanded mgmnt style -save money no matter what the cost.
I've been hearing 'next week' for several weeks now, and never through any official channels, but only through unfounded rumors, and each of those 'next week' have come and gone with nothing happening. As a volunteer, I've grown very skeptical, but still trust our reliable source on here that indicates that 'Most definitely a RIF in 1st 2 weeks of January'. Although, our leadershit being as untrusrworthy and unreliable as they are, we can never be sure of anything anymore, except that they are hell bent on screwing us any and every way they can..
Anybody knows if Mexico will be impacted?
volunteers next week, non-volunteers in january
...is the bottom info true, should all volunteers be notified this week or is this only for certain locations?
Volunteers were notified this week that next week is their last week, they have till Friday, and and non volunteers are walked out next week
Volunteers next week. Non volunteers in January
Any news from toronto
Volenteers at engines have already been notified.
Did anyone get notification that volunteer RIF has been accepted from HR
Honeywell HAS done a RIF on the 24th of dec before.
Jan. 3 is RIF day for DV and Glendale. Mark it down on your calendars, boys and girls.
Doesn't everyone remember the VRIF communication??? Didn't you think it was funny the term "irrevocable" was used? LMAO
My mgr in CLW told his staff that it was his understanding that the RIF would happen here first half of January.
All timelines and time tables have gone out the window. The company made sure of that to precisely and deliberately f*** with our minds.
60 days from the announcement of the RIF would put it on Dec 21
They better implement the VRIF this year or at least before modifying severance else its time to lawyer-up; this is what was promised if self-nominated (from TM's email): "Eligible employees selected through this process will be offered the same benefits as other employees impacted by these reductions, including severance and outplacement assistance."
We cannot receive what was promised (26 wks sev) if the sev policy is modified to anything less (for this self-nom RIF batch).
No way they would RIF in Dec., it makes no sense. They can RIF in Jan., take savings on the balance sheet in Dec. (acceptable acct. practice) and there will be no employees with banked vacation (except in Calif. & PR) to pay out. Additionally the new (13) week severance pkg. would be in effect.
Am a volunteer in Clearwater and have heard nothing...zip...nada
If you can get to the Honeywell Intranet, here's where the current (1/1/2010) Severance Pay Plan for Bands 1 - 4 can be found:
Go to the Corporate home page
In the upper right Search box key in Severance Plan
When the results show up, click on any of the choices and you'll see what is currently in place.
Note that the plan specifically states that it can be amended at any time, so who knows what will happen in the next minute or so. My guess is that the rumor mill is correct, and that starting in '17 the severance pay will be reduced by half.
Are any of the self nomination notifications in Clearwater Fl
Count me in for self nominating as well. Can't wait to leave this sinking ship.
Not seen that reduction in severance as an official policy. I've heard the rumor but it's. it in the HR site
I'm watching cause I'm self nominating next time
I am a self-nominated employee and I am extremely grateful if Honeywell lays me off this year. Next year they would pay 1/2 the severance that they would pay me now. THat is 13 weeks pay. I would gladly give up holiday pay for that.
It doesn't seem to make much sense to RIF before the holidays just to save having to pay for a few days when the RIF has been delayed by a few weeks. It only makes sense if they are trying to be as insensitive as possible, which they have become genius at.
My manager has a non-regularly scheduled meeting with our director this afternoon. He is a good guy and definitely seemed a little "off" or perhaps even "shaken" this morning. Seems like something is brewing.
I am on vacation now . Does it mean when I come in Jan 3rd I may not have my job ?
Soooo, many people in my location won't be here next week to also take the rest of their break time...
Will they still be considered "employed" / earn holiday pay if they aren't around to receive the shoulder tap? Or, is next week dedicated to only volunteers?
AND, does this affect ALL locations?
I am a manager and was contacted by HR to ask if my "self-nominated employees" and I would be in the office next week. I said no and received a thank you response.
the lay-off is scheduled for the week before Christmas
The compnay does this to avoid paying anymore holiday pay to employees it is lettign go, another bean counters way of plussing up his numbers.
Honeywell has no soul, the standard matra is "you have to keep the shareholders happy" , and "we must think of the shareholders" , I am so tired of thinking about the shareholders, it is time they throught about America and time they thought how much more money they would be making if this company trated emplyees right.
@KPNSkv2-mea How do you know that? This might be a genuine manager attempting to give warning to us; although, I truly hope they wait until Christmas break is over to layoff people...
This is a fake news story
Slow down and read it again.
Next week is a "normal" work week however many of us need to burn vacation days so we do that at years end before the holiday shutdown thus giving us the rest of the year off.
The posting said "cancel vacation scheduled for next week" so managers can lay them off and yes before you ask, they will pay them for all vacation days not used.
Hope this helps
Ohhh that is very low
Thanks for the update. You know Honeywell would never say anything,.
Another low for ALT and Cote but not surprising.
Good luck to all affected, God bless your home.
There's a 2 hour meeting for my CEO's managers Tuesday 13th. Mostly located Deer Valley.
Can you clarify what you mean by "for employees on vacation who are on RIF list."? Does that mean RIF some employees while they are on vacation?
