Setting Annual Goals -- For What?

We just went through the exercise of setting our annual goals. With constant reorganizations and downsizings, not to mention a lack of leadership, what's the point? Feedback from managers is meaningless, too, since they don't WTF is going on a month from now, let alone during all of 2017?

Do yourself a favor and make sure you fill in as much fluff in the goals/activities/achievements as possible. Even if your manager says "This is good" chances are he will railroad you into a RIF if he is too weak to give you any sort of actual leadership. Lie as much as you can and don't admit to any wrongdoing. Your input will be used against you behind your back as a sort of measuring stick to see who can stay and who isn't worth a paycheck. Sure, its evil and wrong but its how the business is now. What are you going to do? Just fill out the fields with as much bs as possible and maybe you wont get pulled into a room and told you aren't worth anything to the company, and don't deserve to support your family.

At least you've been asked to set goals. Start worrying when they finally hire someone to help out with the workload after working u half to death, then train them on everything u do. Or when management mysteriously doesn't schedule a mid year review for u in June. Needless to say it was no surprise to me when I got RIFed on my first day back from vacation in September. Not even a PIP. Like I didn't know the person hired to help me was really hired to replace me.

Just pretend everything is cool. No one knows what is going on. Fake it till you make it.

Honeywell has turned into a cut throat company. They do not care about their employee's! HR is a joke and management is clueless.

The way the emplyees are being treated by this company is definately breaking Hineywells 12 behaviors. Sorry Honeywell but I am placing you on a PIP! And since those on PIP's are first to go you will be let go the first week on January 2017. I wont be able to tell you exactly why we are letting you go because that would be the fair and honest thing to do and as you very well know...we can't do that.

Truthfully though, how are setting goals this year any different than previous years. They have always been jokes, just overly vague statements rolled down from above that don't align with your daily tasks. Not knowing what you will be working on is nothing new... the only thing new is not knowing if you will be working. Just play the game like you have always done. Just because middle management has no idea what is going on doesn't mean we should hold it against them. They are in the same sinking ship we are in.

The company's goal is to get rid of us, preferably by way of death, but until they can get rid of us their goal is to torture us as much as possible. I'm hoping to be selected for the RIF, but will happily settle for my manager getting it if I don't.

My manager can't even tell me what I will be working on after January 1st. I copied and pasted vague goals into HPD that were copied from my managers goals. The word was just put the same goals in so I won't get in trouble by leadership. What a joke.
