It sounds like the December RIFs are being put off until January, after the severance cap is reduced, and the non-accruing "unlimited" vacation takes effect.

Cambridge site shut down one of their departments which affected employees not wanting a RIF. The RIF requestors are still here
The latest gossip at the Cambridge Site says that they messed up on paperwork and that the RIF will not be until January by the time they make the adjustments. Hope it is incorrect! Just want it over with... although it seems to be a repeated process and something that anyone working here has to continually deal with. I have never worked for a company like this, I find it so cruel that they could put us all through this for months at a time. Why do they need to give notice so far in advance? TORTURE!
I was RIF'd in early November, and the list they provided us had over 120 HBT names for Sept through Nov. I'm stunned that they just keep trickling these out. Just get it over with and let people get on with their lives.
I was fortunate enough to land a new job within 3 days of my last day in the office at Honeywell, although I'm still attracted to the soap opera on this site. But I have to admit that it's much funnier now that none of it affects my life anymore. I'm SO happy to be out!
Due to the conditions of the severance agreement (which I'm going to sign and drop off to HR tomorrow) I don't really feel comfortable giving out any more information about which site I'm at (hint: we're very small). However, I found the package to be very fair and I encourage anyone who thinks that they 'might' be part of the next RIF to hold on. I almost quit several times over the last year, but the 'golden handcuffs' kept me from doing so. Now? I'm so glad I didn't jump ship too early.

I was laid off today! With a nice salary continuance package! Soooooo damn happy right now. Greener pastures lay ahead.
