Well they pay me to do a job and I will comply but if they ask me to take a 10% pay cut, they will get 10% less work, That is only fair. I will not complain, I will not argue, I will simply provide 10% less service. BTW Mr. Cote we are all just Mercenaries. Careers are just a series of jobs. If you are in the US we know our days of employment with HW are numbered. And one more thing, when Aero goes into its boom cycle eventually, you will have no experienced employees to help this time because we all will be retired or working elsewhere. If you need us back........expect to pay big $'s...that is what mercenaries do.

Yes, it's ironic that at the same time as the company questions our integrity, they attempt to also use it against us. How do ppl who operate like that look themselves in the mirror? I might not leave with millions like Côte and minions but at least I will leave with my integrity. That is worth far more.
Honeywell is counting on that loyalty because that is how many of us are wired. A couple of guys from the old days can pass on a lot of knowledge. I've always believed you should leave a place better than you found it. 6 or 7 yrs more and I'm out.. Hopefully they will let me stick around that long, I guess I really don't mind doing the contractor thing again. You can bet I will hit them haaaaaard.
Cliff Garrett was as far as it's possible to imagine from where we are today. When I joined AiResearch in 1968 it was a far different place. What happened in those years bought eternal loyalty from me to the company, whether they value it or not. It's clear they don't, which is much of why I'm posting here.
Exactly. Working at HON is playing Russian roulette with your career.
Its like a game show - you have a choice to volunteer for RIF....
Behind door number one, if you stay we will outsource you in Q1
Behind door number two, we have 2 more furloughs in Dec, or maybe not
Behind door number three, we will have furloughs and cut your pay next year
BUT - you can't see behind the doors until after you make your decision, Bwaaahahahahahaa
I guarantee if the situation were handled differently, employees would pull together and do what is necessary to keep the company going through difficult times. Temporary pay cut, temporary massive OT, whatever it took - IF the folks at the top had their skin in the game as well.
It is the "death by a thousand cuts", while profits are still there, hiring is still rampant, and bonuses for the top are still flowing that makes people sit back and say hmmm.
What we have lost is Management that respects its employees. All these people that are angry probably remember the days where they had respect and gave 200% consistently, and were proud of their contributions. If the top had stood up there and said "I will not take a salary this year" or "we have one big layoff coming, but then lets get back to business, or even communicated honestly with us about what was coming, things would be different. We can't even get information on flipping furloughs for 4th quarter. How do you plan to support your family and pay your bills when they don't even trust you enough to tell you what is expected in the next 60 days? Ridiculous.
How is giving 40 hours of work for 40 hours of pay "loafing around" on "Honeywelfare"?
@1zfn: "The Man is taking advantage of me. I dont like working here. Leave the company? No, that's scary. I'll just loaf around and collect Honeywellfare".
Did you disclose this attitude when you interviewed for the job? I didn't think so.
same with me. I no longer give any extra time back to the company. those days are over. its about standing up, not being taken advantage of and showing dave that he can fire us, he can RIF us, but hes not going to take advantage of us or take our dignity. I will tell him to his fat, ugly face that Im only working 40 hours for 40 hours worth of pay. If he doesn't like it, he can kiss BOTH sides of my buttocks.
I will no longer give 45+ hours work for 40 hours of pay. I'll only give 40 hours work for 40 hours of pay. And stop with the blotter than though bullsh1t about intrinsic motivation. It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with standing up for myself and not allowing greedy corporate whores to take advantage of me.
2009 I think was when ATL took $1 as theie salary, of course they still got their share options, but at least they appeared to be "suffering" with the rest of us. When TM was asked in Q2 townhall what sacrifices ATL were making, didn't hear anything
@ifl. I'm with you. I always give more than 100% and will continue to do so. When they RIF me, they will feel the loss, I am making sure of that. I am directly in charge of several big projects and have a clueless manager. I will walk away with a smile. (I am in prime RIF zone too, that target is hot on my forehead- band 4, over 55, pension)
On another note, I worked for HP years ago when we had some lean years. Everyone from the top down took a 10% pay cut. We had every other Friday off without pay. The state I lived in gave us unemployment for those Friday's and frankly- we got used to 3-day weekends. It wasn't so bad. I had a family of 5 with young children- the money cut was hard but we adjusted. It was almost disappointing when it ended!!
I agree. From what I've heard our department hasn't given raises in 3 years. There is no compensation increase, nor increase in vacation time, nor is management recognizing us for our accomplishments. Rewards motivates work. Without rewards productivity will cease to exist.
As long as I'm on the payroll, I unconditionally give 100%. If I feel like I could get a better deal elsewhere, I leave. It's called intrinsic motivation and it seems to be rare on this forum.
Screw that. I'm taking a 20% pay raise and abandoning this sinking ship. You screwed with my paycheck enough Cote.
Grammar much?
You're a idiot
10% pay cut will result in a further 20% reduction in productivity. A little respect goes a long way with me. HON doesn't respect employees so why should I respect them.
