Expect the RIF to occur before Thanksgiving. As in the words of management, it is going to be fast and hard.

There will not be a furlough before the RIF, so that leaves the week of December 12th or no pay for the Christmas holidays. Notification would probably be just before Thanksgiving - speculation.

Unlimited basically means they take away your defined amount, you no longer have a set amount of vacation each year. In theory, you can take as much vacation as you want as long as you get your work done, the kicker is it has to be approved by your manager. So all a manager has to do is say no. It also means when you leave, since you don't have a vacation amount anymore there is nothing to payout when you leave. Note, the roll-out looks to be pushed a week or two.

HON moving to "unlimited" vacation policy with 56 hours of sick time for everyone direct and indirect. Policy includes all time off except for holidays. Holidays being reduced to 12 so loss of 1 from what we have today. Policy will be good for those with 2 or 3 weeks of vacation now, crappy foe those with 4,5 or 6 weeks as there is no way your manager will approve that much in the new org with less people. Standard policy across all SBGs. Seems like the change will have a huge disparate impact on older workers as a protected class. Training for employees and managers last week of Oct and first week of Nov. If you are thinking of leaving early next year, consider going before Dec 31 this year or you won't have any vacation to pay out. Nice cost savings for HON to not have to pay out when EEs leave. Also makes selling an SBG more attractive to bidders as there is no vacation buyouts or payouts to worry about. Will be spun as a positive, "hey, now you get UNLIMITED vacation!!!!" but come on, we are not stupid.

maybe a PTO (paid time off) bucket of hours instead of holiday/vacation/sick? I've heard of other companies that do that.

I also heard rumors of a Dec 5th furlough. Also, there are big changes (not for the better) coming in 2017 for benefits, how vacation time is calculated, etc.

Furloughs and RIFs will continue in 2017. Already in the plan. Dave has to shed all the excess people as HON becomes more and more efficient.

Rumor says their will not be an Aero wide furlough. The RIF will be handled as a continuation of the first RIF. It is expected to be larger than the last one. Aero actually has nearly 1,000 employees more than before the RIF.
