Intel also behaves as if they are the only company that offers SABBATICAL to their employees.

Intel only offers paid time off for sabbatical. Another scam for the slavery Intel work environment.

I was shocked 😥 because my ex-employer gave a sabbatical - with paid time off AND fully paid sabbatical activity - ie expense paid vacation. As well people had to be forced to go on sabbatical because they enjoyed their work so much.

@2pmm Renting-a-home can also be fully or partially tax deductible,

Depending on your circumstances or circumstances you create😉 to support your case for doing so.

In turn, you are not really throwing your rent money away as home buyers would convince you into believing.

BIG ONE is soon coming to the Bay Area. EARTHQUAKE that is. (HAARP and Geo-Engineering have been testing to create it). With at-least 7 to 8 magnitude expected.

Just wait for BAY AREA home prices to get slashed.

After the expected big earthquake, some of us - will be able to procure very good properties at less than quarter of their current price. SAVE !! 😁 SAVE !! $$$$$$

@1qkk Baffles me why anyone Single or Non-Boring would want to buy a home and settle in ONE PLACE FOR A JOB unless it was a rental property for investment. Even children of well traveled parents (expats) are flexible, more cultured, adaptable, smarter than stay in one place parents.

For younger people with a successful career and career options, it makes no sense to buy and BE STUCK IN ONE LOCATION. In your prime, make the most money in lucrative tech industry - stay mobile and don't be afraid to switch to companies which offer better.

Rent cheap, invest with extra money to make more money - and you can probably buy a multiple travel destination homes. It also gives freedom to travel, work in different countries. BUYING A HOME TO LIVE IN IS OVER RATED by BORING PEOPLE !!

There are no employment choices in Folsom. I love living in Folsom, it is such a self contained peaceful city. Conveniently located between Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Bay Area.

I can go have fun at these locations to come back to cheaper Folsom living without people crowds, bad traffic, no commute and cheaper to rent.

@1uem I don't want the idiotic Intel employees applying and hoarding the jobs there - ruining the great company it is.

I can give you a clue: Voted best place to work in NW 😁😊

Stock price is triple digits, 😘 Good luck baby

Severely limited options in Oregon.

Move to Austin TX if affordability is a concern. Many better employment options there.

Bay Area is still the best if you can afford it.

If you're in the Bay Area and you're good, there are plenty of better companies.

"Intel mislead and stole me from a company that was paying 100% of my medical. And I can't wait to get out of here. Intel is not as good as they wish to be."

Yep - had a much better 401K, medical plan and other benefits at my prior employer.

Air shuttle? They try to sell the air shuttle as a perk in recruitment meetings? That is hilarious. It is a tiny craft, always overbooked, and leaves at atrocious hours in the morning so you can make it to your 8 a.m. meeting in SC. And at least now in Folsom, I wouldn't count on the air shuttle's longevity. They threatened in April to shut it down without notice. Just before I left I heard they had come up with a temporary solution but don't count on that to last. The only one who has guaranteed access to a private jet for his personal transportation is Murthy.

Average salary with heavy load and working hours depending on team and managers

Easy to manage but things are going bananas as its always top down approach

ha ha Intel's fruit attracting moth level employees. You attract what you offer. The idiots during hiring event were boasting about the crappy Intel Cafeteria like it was some 5star eating facility.

Also hiring idiots were selling me the Intel air-shuttle making it sound as if their air-shuttles are luxurious private jets when in actuality they are worse than a cheap southwest flight, being crammed into tiny space.

Not only medical.

That company's employee benefits covered fully paid 100% Medical, DENTAL and VISION.

Stock was always in 3 figures.

Unlike $HIIITTTTY INTEL most awful company with mix of dysfunctional organizations, dysfunctional business structures and dysfunctional employees. Can Intel already stop with uprooting and stealing employees of other better companies by promising the world during hiring. When truth is Intel can't compete or compare with any of the better known tech employers. Dear Intel, F! your URM.

HA HA HA ! What choice do Intel employees have ? One needs to have options to leave.

Most Intel employees have been seat warmers for over decades and not developed any skill sets, are limited to only knowing how to sift data in Excel and produce powerpoint presentations.

As for Intel Directors and managers who do no work ....outside Intel - Directors/Managers are not free loaders, there is actually work required to be completed without delegating every work that comes along. Directors are supposed to lead, Intel Directors can't even formulate a strategy (mine can't even use Microsoft Office based on his attempts in a live meeting and he has been at Intel for last 29 years) without delegating it. Piling useless work on their team to free themselves to enjoy easy life, and Intel paid travels.

Most Intel staff are forced to stay due to their inabilities and being lazy, unskilled, having no value in industry. Intel does whatever they do their own Intel WAY - which then is not surprising why Intel is so wrong in everything they do, produce bad results, is chaotic and must utilize blame fix attitude.

The oldies have been seat warmers and are afraid of not getting hired in their old age, rightly so - what do they have to show for all their years at Intel ? How can you except them to attain a better job in a better company by leaving Intel ?

Intel thinks they are the only WELL PAYING EMPLOYER ha ha , little do these idiots who have only worked in Intel know about great companies or great work environments. There are endless number of companies in Bay Area paying more than Intel's mid-range 6 fig salary.

As for me, I am waiting to complete two years. I don't want to end up 'dead wood' like the Intel employees and will leave at the earliest possible. Counting down the months/days... possibly earlier if they will excuse ..

It's not the salary, but the benefits (healthcare). My husband works for a major aerospace company, and his paycheck deduction alone for healthcare for the family would cost us more than Intels total out of pocket for the family. So I provide all the health insurance for the family because it just makes more economical sense. (For reference, his company's HSA plan has a $13k out of pocket cost!!!)

I stayed for the free fruit. The fruit company is not all it is made out to be. They have all sorts of structure and management issues to, but for no the iSomething keeps them going.

Just like x86 and tick Tock of Moore hid all Intel ills. Unlike Apple Intel tick Tock is dead and process generation has slipped and x86 is boring.

Uh...YES?

If you won the powerball lottery, would you still work your tech job? If no, then you're working for the paycheck.

Dumbazz question.

Of course the compensation is the main reason to stay. i dont do calculus so my altenative would be like nike or the government.

Sometime in the past decade intel technical people have gave up most of the decison making power to all us who barely passed jr high math. Seems odd, but good for me (for now).

It is so hard to tell because standard job salary ranges are all over the map and not readily verifiable, or at least I don't know how to find out for sure. I actually took a 15K pay cut to get into Intel in 2006. I eventually got back to where I started before joining and then was VSPd. I am not technical. Also, my particular role was considered nice to have in the beginning but it was clear over time, and during various crises like SET and the year PSO froze promotions and now ACT, that what I did was icing on the cake and completely dispensable when money was tighter.

Not true. Some Executive Admins at other companies are making more than at Intel.

If you are in a non-technical support position and in Hillsboro, you will never get comparable compensation for what you do in the area, especially if you are a really good admin who's been with Intel for, say, 15 years and got 2-3 percent increase a year, and is now over 55.
