Severance "Double Dipping"

Anyone know if the severance is contingent on the severed employee being unemployed? It's be nice to go straight to a new job and still collect severance.

Please don't respond with "who cares? Collect it anyway." I'm looking for Honeywell's rules on this.

Thanks.

You can double dip. However, per the agreement, you can not work for HW or a sub contractor to Honeywell.

You can double dip. There is no law or Honeywell rule stating you cant. Your severance is in liu of you not bringing any litigation agains them. I've double dipped twice before and will do it again this time. There are many others who were fortunate to get new jobs right away while still collecting severance.

No. it's no dependent on being unemployed just your separation from Honeywell, as long as your new employment is not at another Honeywell you are fine.

TBH, HON HR doesn't give a rat's a$$ where a RIFed employee ends up going or what they end up doing post-HON. They'll just ignore your calls or emails after they kick you out. All the gibberish stuff on severance paperwork is just standard CYA that you can't sue HON for anything in the future.

You have to run your new employer by HON HR for approval per your confidentiality agreement (assuming you signed one). You also need to provide the confidentiality agreement to you new employer. Assuming everything is a go from that standpoint, you will continue to receive you severance regardless of employment status. HON could choose to suspend you severance if you take a job that violates the agreement and that is rejected by HON HR.. Not sure they would though

IMHO you are under no obligation to report your employment status back to Honeywell. It's called severance for a reason, you have severed your ties to the company.
