No. And I speak for everyone except the one person in this thread responding yes.

"Yeah, a union would not work very well for a company that is trying to get rid of employees.
They will be just as happy having everybody voluntarily going on extended strikes instead of dealing with furloughs."
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Look, I hate Honeywell just as much as anyone else here, so why do you want to give Honeywell the ammunition to eliminate more jobs, and close more plants? The only thing your unionization discussion accomplishes is sending more American jobs overseas to China and India. If that was your goal, then congratulations, big winner!
Yes, I hate the idea, but there isn't much to like about Honeywell anymore either. DV (Phx)
Yes - DV (PHX)
NO - I have never met a union that has saved one single job. Unions have only one objective, their own survival
Yes, ABQ. Always said no up till now.

South Bend Engineering: If you want to be part of a Union, the men and women outside the plant would welcome you. The more of you on the outside, the stronger they will be. The plant can't run without both engineers and skilled union workers.

Boeing union IAM 751 hasn't saved even (1) job. All they do is make sure that you get laid off in seniority order. However they would prevent the company from changing your benefits at will. Not sure how many people would actually strike or become a scab. I think too many people have watched Norma Rae and have no idea what they are talking about.
We should join the same union that Boeing has...
Torrance - Hell no... my humble opinion as a former Senior Steward for the IAM 727. They will sell Honeywell Aero and there is nothing you or any union can do about it. When times were good I would hear many employees making fun of unions. Nothing made me more sick than when I had to defend the worst workers on the planet. It was like watching people on High priced welfare. Many PE's are easily finding work at other companies that are scooping Honeywell employees.
This is all nonsense. HON will win. Your best bet is to do what Dave and dairyass want; leave the company. Find a new job and then give HON as little notice as possible. My plan is to find a new job and then volunteer for the RIF in January or if i find something sooner, I'll give the company a day or two notice with 0 fvcks given
