Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell does not want any employees in the US. They figure by now all the offshore low cost employees can handle everything. The truth.

They are replacing band 4 project engineer positions with band 3 engineers from outside the U.S.

It is time to consider unionization again in America. For many years it made no sense but with talk that 2017 and beyond severance packages going to just two weeks......either you have to move into a less cyclical industry than Aerospace or you need a Union to keep corporate America some what honest. They will move the jobs whether or not you are Unionized but it will help make it far more difficult.

It is no longer just manufacturing & engineering jobs being moved out of the U.S either. Some of the divisions in the former ACS (now HBT) have large operations in Mexico with an educated workforce that is taking over inside sales and customer service jobs. Much more effective than the centers in India and much lower cost than the U.S workers. To add insult to injury, they make the U.S workers train them to ultimately replace them. Long term this will backfire, but obviously Cote doesn't care about long term impact and nobody on his staff has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to him.

if it works for the common man (mexicans doing your lawns, cleaning your tables, etc) then it works for corporate. You cant have your cake and eat it too, only difference was that the "crappy" jobs were being taken, now with more and more qualified people out there and with the internet a lot of jobs were taken and now everyone is starting to bawl. It s---s but thats just the way it is.

I saw this coming years back when they started pushing HOS. Making employees define everything about their work and distilling it into hourly charts, graphs and other kindergarten style instructions, under the guise of workplace improvement. The real long term plan was to make people very replaceable. Why pay decent for labor when HOS Gold certification would allow any foreign labor to walk right in and do the work!

Exactly. Long term goals are to move everything that can be moved out of the US, and employ as few Americans as possible in favor of "emerging markets" as dave cote puts it. Some higher level management will be kept to oversee all the 3rd party contractors but the days of Honeywell having a large presence in the US are over. Honeywell does not want to pay for benefits, insurance, pensions, retirements, etc. This is why 3rd party labor is so enticing; more money left over for dave and wall street. Sorry America.
