Yeah, I heard they haven't made a load of LNG in many months. Problem was much bigger than stated.

I've heard that starting up Gorgon domestic gas is going about as well as the LNG. I thought that would be pretty simple. Anyone heard anything more?

SInce PRC cannot manage major projects, Chevron is shifting back to simple onshore projects like Marathon and ConocoPhillips and Devon . After FGP, major projects will be a dwindling part of portfolio. Only a few majors like Total, Shell and ExxonMobil will have capability and competence to operate big projects. Chevron has crappy projects skills and skills will erode further as layoffs continue and veteran project people retire.

Stockholders should be very happy that CVX is cutting every OPCO and BU to the bone now. Even the EEOC protected groups in PRC, CBRES, HR and PGPA are being dismissed. JW is doing his job.

ANOTHER master stroke from PRC . 2 years before we wresled controle back you grown ups in san ramone should look into this

The common denominator on Gorgon, Wheatstone, Angola LNG and Bigfoot is Chevron, not Shell or ExxonMobil. ExxonMobil and Shell and Total have a solid record of LNG plant start-ups, cost and schedule.

I see that a number of high profile managers on BWI are now heading to TCO.

What a great reward system!

Shell and Exxon were highly involved in every step taken at Gorgon. Both companies had significant numbers of seconded technical and management people up to and including deputy project manager. Both companies fought hard and won many changes to the project. Shell chose the LNG train configuration, for example. Exoonmobil designed and drilled over half the development wells. The problems at Gorgon were related to local labor quality, unions, and Australian government restrictions on Barrow Island ops. Chevron deserves full blame as operator for not recognizing these risks and building them into cost and schedule. No significant Gorgon leader has been promoted since the Wheels fell off and a couple very prominent ones were pushed out of Chevron. At this stage the impact on company financials has put the CEOs job at risk, thus the cost cutting and thus this web site.

Plenty of blame to go round. Expats/PRC largely developed the plan, but Australian workforce and labor unions were responsible for low work productivity. Shell and ExxonMobil use Gorgon as a good example of a bad example, the ultimate project management failure. No other examples of such massive failure in the industry. Kashagan a close second. Chevron and ENI are not partner of choice and will not be allowed to operate or will have difficulty in finding partners for new projects where Chevron/ENI operate.

The Chevron process of facility or concept selection was to use the much vaunted tools to frame the problem, identify the issues, do the work, identify value drivers, select & refine an alternative or two. The last five years saw PRC & AD progressively destroy that approach but trying to validate a pre-determined outcome. That meant ignoring data, withholding results/documentation from partners & government & the final insult seeking endorsement from senior management (SDRB) who were either unable or unwilling to comprehend the decisions put before them. Those folk driving this debacle (expats) seek to blame the ABU & the local workforce for their own inadequacy. What's more they get the glory, career development & opportunity whilst others do their work for them. CVX/ABU is so utterly dysfunctional is must be the butt of jokes with our competitors. "Partner of choice" indeed.

-7nje, please comment via VPN or public wifi and mention their names. The worse that can happen is that the moderators will delete the post. If so, just post it again. Inept assh@les ruining the company absolutely need to be called out. If not, also mention their superior's name. That should get the attention it deserves. Take advantage of this anonymous medium of communications to get the word out.

Chevron cut critical LNG process engineers. Now very little process engineering available to safely start t2 and t3. SImilar at Wheatstone. Not convinced we can keep this running safely. Construction engineers no longer critical need... We need people who understand process operations and to fix all the PRC mistakes. Hopeless

PRC is an organisation with a seriously malfunctioning organisational culture, even by CVX standards. Knowledge of process and being 'PRC' is more important subject matter knowledge. Time and time again good people were employed who knew about construction in Australia or LNG. However, they had to report to some PRC numpty who wouldn't listen. I've heard PRC people say their processes and people were so good that all you had to do 'turn the handle' and any sort of project could be done, large or small. The rotation of expats (7-year ones excepted) being much less than the project life doesn't help. Why identify and address a problem when you can just ignore it, keep your nose clean, and kick the can down the road to the next guy? Now that commissioning is 'happening' the problems can't be ignored any longer.

Anyone associated with ABU over the past 5 years should be terminated. The entire project has been a fiasco, especially from a FE and management perspective. Including all the beer drinking expats. Pitiful.

I can't for the life of me work out why we have a single expat in the US, Canada, Australia or the UK. Every single position could be filled with a qualified national. Are we nuts?
