Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to Retire before I could have been laid off!

After 26 years with Honeywell, Retirement for me last year was timely. The company treated me honestly all those years. It seems that in today's work place you have to do more than just doing your job. Going the extra mile etc...

During my rocky career, Honeywell always gave me the benefit of the doubt. I had opportunity to grow in my career. The year I left, the corporate mentality changed and did almost an about face.

Management was under pressure to do the bidding of corporate heads and we could tell management was feeling the pressure as well. The atmosphere in the workplace became one of distrust. You were always having to look over your shoulder to protect your job.

The stress of all that, affected my ability to perform my responsibilities. I chose to retire at that point and am grateful I had the opportunity to do so. Looking back, Honeywell Stock is now at an all time high.

When I visit with my co workers for lunch, I hear sad stories about the work place. My stress level dropped about 75% when I left. I only wish the best to all employees who still have kept their jobs. All those employees I am still in contact with who have left the company for what ever reason, are grateful to have left and have moved on to other opportunities.

Their stress levels dropped significantly as well. I feel bad for management who have to make the tough decisions they make that have affected all of us in our business and personal lives. I'm going to stop by and have lunch with ex coworkers today then head out on the trail and climb a mountain.

Life outside Honeywell is good, and I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to Retire before I could have been laid off!

Kudos to you bro - there are thousands that were not as lucky as you - they are losing their jobs. As you hinted, the company changed.
