Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I was treated like I had stolen something

In January I was given 1 minute to grab my personal items and escorted out of the building without saying goodbye to my coworkers and friends. I was treated like I had stolen something and was being led out with a box and an informal "good luck" from my manager. It was as if he had a chore to do and was pressed for time. With a year in, I was given 4 weeks of pay and benefits that continued through the end of the following month. Arizona unemployment made me fill out by hand and fax several documents so I could collect just enough money to keep my children fed, both preschool age. This was a full time job for a couple weeks. You wont see it coming, and no reason will be given why you were chosen. Don't trust good reviews, or a friendly banter with a manager to save you. The outsourced placement services don't serve any purpose other than to pull you in a meeting and tell you how to fill out a resume and apply to jobs online which hopefully everyone that was affected would have been doing up to that day anyway. You will blame yourself for being chosen, you will lay awake at night wondering if you had just done a little more to make them believe you were worth a damn. You will be ostracized by your former coworkers as they will not want your "bad luck" to rub off on them. That or they will feel guilty. Either way say goodbye to everyone there if you get the chance. Your manager will NOT give you any help in the way of recommendations and will say its policy. You will be required to notify all potential employers of your signature of the non compete agreement for a year. You will struggle with the question "what led you to leave your previous position?" and squirm in your seat when they act uncomfortable in discussing any further. You may get interviews again there, but they are more of a "sorry about that" gesture. No offers will come of them. In the end you will accept a sub optimal position to make ends meet. That's the package I got.

It's true, in AZ you get capped at 240 /wk. max 6 months. They conveniently place it on a debit card since you probably won't have an address to send checks to for very long...its taxable income too by the way. The best people to get money from are those who are involuntarily thrown out on the street I suppose. I just hope everyone affected gets at least the same or better pay in a new position soon. Also hope that job is as far away from Honeywell as possible.

Is it true AZ unemployment pay is capped at $240 per week (less taxes)? That's what I saw, and I can't effing believe it. Good luck with that.

The same thing happened to me. Did you get the nicely bound book consisting of 409 pages with at least 20 positions per page of elimated jobs? I didn't feel alone after giving the most greedy company 19 years of my life.

Previously worked for Allied Signal for about 16 years and those were the best days of my career with the aerospace industry... Then, Allied Signal bought Honeywell around the year2000, shortly after the purchase Mr Larry Bosidy rertied and Jack the reaper Welch took over and it was all doing hill and to hell from there! There's a special place in hell for all these evil people! I.E. Darin Whaley

I worked there for almost 30 years and saw this type of treatment over and over. I was also eventually laid off but was one of the "lucky ones" who was given a few months notice and then required to train my Indian replacement (who would be training others in India to do my job) in order to receive my severance package. It is a very nasty corporation, in my opinion, but probably not much different than most corporations these days. All about money - nothing about people, loyalty or community. They even quit sponsoring Habitat for Humanity. Sad. I believe Dave Cote will have some explaining to do when his time on earth comes to an end.
